I think there's a difference between hunger and saturation, though. I think one how much food you've eaten and the other is how long that food will last before you have to eat again. Things like steak will keep you fed for longer than something like a carrot.

Oh, and Minecraft is coming to Smash now. I'm not sure if that annoys more or less than the fact that the Nintendo News article refers to the new DLC fighters as "Steve" and "Alex", and not "Steve?" and "Alex?".

Saturation and satiety are different things.

Let me give some background.

I have a car. My dad has a car. My brother wrecked his car. My dad gave him his car and started sharing my car (a definite downgrade, because mine's a wee cheapy). I don't mind, he's my dad, it's full of farming stuff now but c'est la vie et al. I owe him much more than a car.

So my brother wrecks my dad's car. He needs to get to work. Dad asks if he can use my car, and I agree. He doesn't have money for fuel, so I give him £20 (with my dad's promise to get it back off him, because I'm not an idiot). It's not something I want to do, for obvious reasons, but not something I felt able to say no to.

He gets pulled over by the police and is cheeky to them. They say they're going to be on the lookout for the car in future. It stinks of smoke. It's got his rubbish in it. He leaves his clothes in it. There are only fumes left in it and I have to go to a job interview.

The next day he wants to go buy something. Dad says "ask [me] if you can borrow his car." I say "where are you going?" He says "that's none of your business. I have the key in my pocket, I can just go." So after a bit where he insists he'll just take it, and he refuses to tell me where he's going, I say "no."

He turns to dad like it's his trump card. "Dad make him give me the car. I need to go in." Dad doesn't say anything, just looks angry. Probably at me. But it's a moot point, because at that point I'd rather slit the tires than let him, so it's not like appealing to his daddy would change my mind. When he realises getting the car isn't a fait accompli he starts saying "can I have the car, Pleaaase" with a sneer, gradually building up to terse but, if he'd done it at the start, acceptable asking. I still say no.

I go help my aunt at her house with some basic computer stuff, then come back over. He's taken my dad's car, which is illegal. Mum says I should have given him mine, he could lose his job if he's caught. Dad's obviously furious with me. I say that's not my problem, I'm not his mum or dad, and I don't have to do anything for him.

So today, being the day after that happened, my dad (who uses my car for local trips concerning the farm) is just giving him the key without me being consulted at all. I've asked him to stop. He didn't say anything, which means he won't. So now I'm stuck. I won't take away dad's access to the car no matter what. And he's just going to keep letting my brother use and break it, like he does everything else.

Well, stuck and incredibly annoyed/angry.

Edit: I should add that my brother is thirty. years. old.

You know it’s an issue for your dad to say no to your brother, and you have difficulty trusting your brother.

If you now can’t trust your dad to protect your property from your profligate brother, who has wrecked his property and your dad’s property, you need to insert the possibility into your dad’s existence that you’ll take the car away from him because he doesn’t respect your ownership of the car, even if you have no intention of doing that.

Big +1 here. You'll also want to really hammer the emotional point to your dad of "hey, what are we going to do if he wrecks the car that you use?"

Tell your dad that the next time he let's your brother take the car, you're going to report the car stolen.

Your brother needs somebody to put the foot down and honestly it sounds like your father needs it too but for his weakness to your brother.

I dont think thats exactly easy.

My advice is the same as in the past: expedite getting into civil service (anything except customs of course, for health reasons) and move out of home

Yes, you have to put your foot down. It's irrational to say "I won't take away dad's access to the car no matter what."; you would take it away if he acted with it exactly like your brother did, yes? Well, now your dad is acting as a front for your brother, so your brother's actions are effectively his own. You need to take away his access to the car.

*snip*

Reminds me of this story from my American relatives. They had a cousin who was terrible at driving, he kept getting into accidents. He'd wreck one car, then ask his parents for money to buy another and wreck that one as well. By the time he was on his 5th car, no insurance company wanted to insure him anymore. Except one, but they were the insurance equivalent of payday loan lender. He bought the policy anyway.

He wrecked the fifth car. After that happened, not even the sketchy insurance companies wanted to touch him anymore. When he asked his parents for money to help him buy a 6th car, they finally said no. He hasn't been behind the wheel since.

Moral of the story: Some people aren't meant to drive. A car is a multi-tonne death machine. Like a gun, it needs to be treated with a certain amount of respect. Your brother seems to be very immature though and your father is enabling him. If he really needs to travel somewhere, he should either get a lift from someone or a taxi.

Walk out into the yard to check something, end up with cat orbitals on way back in. Felines equidistant on three sides, maintaining same speed. Frumple's morning involved spontaneous shmup cosplay, I guess.

1. Minor earthcake during the night

2. Draft caught the leaves like a plant.

3. The plant has grown, slowly but surely becoming big enough to be unbalanced for it's pot, eventually coming to the tipping point where the pot falls over.

4. Your building has a rat infestation

5. Invisible kitty
