You're welcome.

Random WTF: I never realized that Glen Larson (the guy who created the original Battlestar Galactica, AKA "Mormons In Space") was also behind Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Magnum P.I., The Fall Guy, Knight Rider, Automan, Manimal and The Highwayman.

Dude was responsible for like half the primetime shows I watched as a kid.  :o

I know about half of those. I didn't watch a lot of tv as a kid, though. I spent all my time reading and playing video games.

When I was young, the only video games were the ones at the arcade.  :'(
Or on my neighbors' Atari 800.

God, I have so many hazy memories of Sunday afternoons watching Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica (and the Muppet Show). And Saturdays it'd be three hours of Doctor Who (usually Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker) on a staticky PBS channel, followed by the local indie station showing a double-bill of some 50's B-movie, followed by some low-budget Hong Kong kung-fu flick.

Those were good times...

Had a dream about writing a program in Python.
Every function was an SCP. Really really weird.

How many of them were snake-related?

Oh, you could always get me in front of the tv if it involved a cheesy kung-fu movie. That was the only time my parents ever saw me act like a regular kid.

Happy birthday, MZ!

re: last page: I regularly fix my home network by plugging and unplugging cables and projecting an aura of pure hatred and ill intent at the modem. Does that mean I'm the family IT guy?  :P

If you can fix a modem with pure hatred, then you are an old pro. It still takes me at least a stern glance, and sometimes that makes it worse.

Don't remind me of how much I hate our ISP's low-level techies (they need to put some more points into Knowledge: Nonstandard Responses). I've got nothing but the random knowledge I've picked up, and it still seems like I could do a better job than them. >.>

Well it does solve a good number of things. For the things it doesn't solve, you probably need more than your basic techie.

You probably could. For large call-centers, probably 60-80% of Tier I techs are basically CSR's (customer service representatives) with a flowchart-like script of questions to ask. They don't have any real technical knowledge. Their job is to filter out the really, really stupid questions so that the next tier is actually getting technical issues to deal with. They're also there to fill a seat so that you don't wind up waiting 3 hours on hold to get through (a role which they still sometimes fail spectacularly at).
