"Barackle Bama"

That's one way of spelling it.

I had an interesting conversation with Cleverbot tonight.
It was kinda scary.

EDIT: I'm not even mad that I accidently dumped my full name in there.
Why was my first reaction to Google you? I feel like a horrible internet stalker.

I don't feel safe anymore.
Great.
Now my house feels about as safe as that Wal-Mart I went to yesterday.

It's okay, I live in San Diego, so I am unlikely to physically stalk you.

I live in Michigan, so I could come to Vermont, but with parents who seem to not like New England (given that I've suggested going there for spring or summer break for a few years now, and we've never done so despite going to places both less interesting and more expensive instead), and once I'm on my own (i.e. soon-ish) I won't have enough money or free time for that sort of thing.

And I already camp outside your house in the bushes every night, so it's not like anything has actually changed...

There is a maximum function, which is written as max(a1,a2,...an) which gives as its output whatever value in that list is the greatest.

Maybe your assignment is trying to demonstrate what happens when there's an overflow?

Can, uh. Can you ask the teacher? I'd be guessing your function should just pick the larger of the two variables, as well, but I don't know programming from beans.

You're supposed to find which of the two values is larger.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

max(val1, val2, etc) is a common math function. In fact if you don't want to do the logic yourself, I'm willing to bet you could just import math.h (or equivalent in whatever language you're using) and use its max function.

Nah, it's little things like that that make or break a lot of assignments, from what I've seen. It's not so much intelligence, per se, so much as attentiveness and -- to a fair degree -- familiarity with however whatever you're working with is normally structured. Not so much being smart or knowledgeable as being attentive and thinking in the right way for whatever you're working with. More mindset than intellectual capability, to say for a third time. Rule of three is important at a half hour 'till midnight.

The single most important step in writing a computer program is mutual understanding of the specification.

If you don't understand what the boss/customer/etc. wants/needs, you will fail to deliver what is needed in a timely manner.
