All-you-can-eat Italian food is a great scheme. There's no way you're gonna eat more than the entrance fee in noodles and sauce.

Well... the one that I go to has a noodle spot... but honestly I never wanted any of their noodles.

They also have apple crumble but it has only TWICE been any good. (Why is making apple crumble so hard?)

I never eat the apple / peach cobbler at a buffet. It always just looks like someone chewed up a decent pie and spit it back into the pan. Just offer pies! Dang.

They are NEVER any good... EVER!

Those two times were the only two times buffet crumble/cobbler was any good.

... maybe it's a regional thing? I don't eat the stuff, but family does and when they hit a buffet that has the junk, I've never heard any complaints from 'em.

I'unno, only buffet I've been to recently has cheesecake and cinnamon rolls (tiny ones, but whatever) so I haven't exactly gave a damn about the cobbler.

Not to disparage your family's tastes, Frumple, but people enjoy eating different things and have varying tolerance for thinking of a food as better or worse than "adequate".

I eat some things that my girlfriend thinks are just lame. Not worth her time. But to me - delightful! Same goes the other way.

There are people who prefer pies to be as crunchy as humanly possible.

My Sister prefers spaghetti that is just slightly undercooked and liked it so much that she thought it was perfectly cooked for a while.

Doesn't mean it was well made.

Yeah, yeah, I'm aware of that, but part of said family that gives it the okay consists of full-blown Southern Cooking Marms (and other opposite gender equivalents). These people know their cobbler, and have at times created/helped create cobbler for entire communities (many dozens of people, basically). They've got the credentials for proper evaluation :P

And yeah, I'd expect bad cobbler to be a hell of a black mark on a buffet's reputation around here. People love that stuff. So there might be different levels of selection pressure re: cobbler quality, I'unno. That'd be my guess.

I ... I just think cobbler is a lame squished pie. It's a lazy man's pie. It has nothing that a pie does not, and lacks its dignity and drama. If you like cobbler as much as pie, perhaps I can interest you in a meatball sandwich that looks like it was stepped on?

Why would you even put meatballs in a sandwich.

Ontopic: This. I don't even.

Watch this. And then read the comments. I laughed until I cried. And then laughed some more.

My brain must be in a weird place right now.

These are both relevant to my WTF/Happy today. I think I've had too much of the weird side of youtube for now.

Pfff. I've been away for longer and I'm still kicking.
Not to mention that the two of us are in the same country as him, I think we'd notice if there was an apocalypse nearby.

Ok I have to ask...

When you start to get full off of sushi it starts to get sickeningly sweet and can even cause me to feel aggressively nauseous.

Yet with most other foods this doesn't happen.

LoudWhispers hasn't been on for about 3 and a half weeks.

Clearly the apocalypse is coming.
But what kind of apocalypse? Got to be specific with your heralding of world demise man, otherwise the media won't take you seriously. Alternate post: Apocalypse how?
