I went to a pretty conservative school (e.g. they fired a teacher for being gay) which you would think would lower the overall perviness of its roll.
Ha. Haha. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA

yeah no

gods fuck, no

Not necessarily increase, but decrease? No. Just.

No. Having lived in heavily conservative areas most of my life.

No.

Seem to be considerably more likely to handle things off the record, though, yes.

I don't recall where I read it, but there is at least one really horrifying exposé out there where a woman came clean about everything that happened at her (conservative, highly Christian) university, which she (like others) attended essentially as the old Major in Getting Married tradition that used to be the thing, and culminating in her being raped and dumped on a public lawn. The university staff worked hard to keep anything from ever going to the media or courts, not just then, but in all related situations.

Yeah. I'd rather have schools overreacting to every dumb asshole out there than covering up for actual rapists.

oh, oh wow.

Not if you don't discriminate in application.

Getting back into Runescape, found out that about a year ago Jagex removed a bunch of fun gambling stuff and made anything of the sort bannable.
Badly justified too. If you were really thinking of the children you wouldn't encourage them to spend hours a day sat playing the game you made.
Kids always gamble no matter what (including bets and games like Truth or Dare). Depending on the magnitude of their actions, they gamble with their lives all the time. Youtube has a plethora of such gambles.
All kinds of IOS/Browser games have some sort of gambling built in.  It might not be legally considered gambling on the tin... but it is gambling...
The main example in short:
1. People buy up 'gems' or equivalent with real money...
1a. Some of those games do reward a pittance of gems through regular play.
2. They spend those gems on a random chance to get X super duper item.
2a. More often then not, they'll get some dunce common-ish item
2b. Though, some games are better then that and have a minimum of... uhh...  'rare' rewards for gambling with real monies.

I heard that the Chinese expression for "Highland Games" translates literally in English as "Strong Man-Skirt Party".

To be fair, that is also the English translation.

I wouldn't think you'd get change out of a thousand tabs. A thousand tabs! It's absurd a thousand tabs, it's ridiculous a thousand tabs! I won't open it a thousand tabs! Just to overdose on your silly TVTropes!

Pale Moon already lags like the world's going to end with just three tabs.

Yeaaaah, no. This is part of a contest being held by VisitScotland.com to solicit suggestions for Mandarin equivalents for Scottish stuff, to encourage Chinese tourists.

The most common Mandarin phrase I can find is gāodì yùndònghuì, which literally means "high/tall land sports competition". Part of the art of finding Mandarin phrases for things is trying to find one that captures the gist while also sounding roughly the same. My Mandarin name, for instance, is Pan Luoyi, which is a pretty good phonetic approximation of my English name. I sometimes used Pan Luoli, which sacrificed a bit of phonetic fidelity for the in-joke that "Luoli" is the Mandarin pronunciation for Raleigh, the city I used to live in.

Anyways.....from the Beeb, here's a list of other top choices as submitted by Chinese speakers:

Quote

Kilt - (科特短裙) - Ke-te short skirt (homophone for "kilt")
The Willow Tea Rooms - (唯乐茶屋) - Always happy tea room
Malt Whisky Trail - (香酒巷) - Fragrant liqueur lane
The Wallace Monument - (勇者心碑)- Monument to brave heart
Glenfinnan Viaduct - (天堑飞虹) - Highland rainbow
Royal Mile - (融蕴美径) - A beautiful street with long history and profound culture
Balmoral Castle & Estate -(唯爱城堡) - One true love castle (sounds like Victoria I)
Loch Ness Monster - (尼斯魅影) - Phantom of Loch Ness
The Kelpies - (铠魄巨马) - Glorious armoured giant horses (homophonic with Kelpies)
Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park - (山湖怀抱醉梦乡) - Mountain lakes get you drunk on dreams
Cairngorms National Park - (云原雪岭) - Snow mountains reaching into sky

I have to say, "glorious armoured giant horses" sounds like a good tourist draw.
