...Oh. And here I was thinking Furt was vegetarian. :P

The funny thing is that real vegetarian chinese food is probably less healthy than eating meat.

In the south the only thing i've learned is to pour kidney-shriveling amounts of soy sauce on various chicken and rice dishes. I'm expecting a couple acolytes of Nurgle to come knocking, this and the sweet tea is probably making their corrupted hearts beat out diseased blood just a little faster.

My annoyance is that traditionally you're suppose to not eat any meat on the day of chinese new year but none of the stands celebrating it had any, leaving only sucky food. And I'm in a particularly touchy mood about that after my screwup at breakfast this morning.

Huh!  I was actually going to cook some pork chops of all things, but might as well not.  I have plenty of potatoes and onions and carrots for another nice winter stew because FRICKEN EL IT'S COLD HERE WTF.

My thermostat shows the interior temperature at 40 but only because it's the minimum.  Outside temp is 5 before windchill.  I'm wearing 4 layers and a blanket and gloves and hooray for shoulder length hair because I still can't find my hat.

also early boozing, except that I know that's detrimental to actual survival and only numbs the perception of cold.  But I'm bundled up enough to be fine.

As for observing things from other cultures, it's fun.  Makes me feel better about observing Christmas if I observe other things I don't believe in too.  Besides, it's easy to be a vegetarian nowadays...  Economical, even.  I basically only eat fishmeat as-is, with occasionally treats of salted cardboard from Wendy's.

Heh a dog just pooped in the snow outside my window

Seems weird that animal lifespans are so arbitrary.  Goldfish and bears can live about 30 years, Parrots and Turtles can live about 90.  So why do dogs and cats only live 10-15 years?

'cause some humans are stupid and can't look after their animals properly.

I don't see how it's arbitrary though. It's not as though once they hit a certain age they keel over...

That has little to do with lifespans.

I'm pretty sure that a dog not living to 90 has nothing to do with how well it's taken care of. And the arbitrary part is how the lifespans are all different.

I think part of it is to do with the dogs and cats being inbred, but that's not all, of course, since there are wild cats.

That suggests some decision-making mechanism though, but I don't really want to get into that.

People do have an inordinate influence on how long a cat or dog lives though.
