Some more youthful wisdom, while watching "The Rescuers Down Under":

"If I could get into the cartoon, I'd kill the bad guy. With a stick."
"Wouldn't you throw him in prison or something?"
"No, kill him. With a stick."

She was dead serious. She scares me, sometimes.

Hey, killing the antagonist is often the simplest way to resolve the plot.

Hey, killing the antagonist is often the simplest way to resolve the plot.
Exceptions include when the antagonist wants to die, the antagonist is the protagonist, and when the antagonist is integral to the fabric of the universe.

No, wait, those would all still count. Exceptions include when the antagonist can un-die and when the antagonist is already dead.

Or the antagonist is doing it to hold back a bigger antagonist. But this sets up the sequel/next series.

See? You've resolved the current plot! As for the next plot, well, you know what to try first. Unrestricted murder is almost always the easiest way to "solve" plot.  :P

And then they destroyed the thing. Unbelievable.

Reminds me of an old, quasi-spy guy I met once. He got in bad with some drug lords and a couple guys went to his house to kill him. They forgot to pull the pin when they threw the grenade.

He was vague about what happened after that, but he still had the grenade and threw it on the table when he was talking to me and a few other folks. Warned us not to pull the pin, and went on talking about crazy stories. He was probably the coolest guy I've ever met.

So, I was watching a video online about North Korea, and I noticed some billboards (propaganda, I'm sure) with exclamation points.  Their new rocket has a big number 3 painted on the side, as it's a type-3 of some kind.

North Korea is as rejecting of "the West" as any country could be, and they have stuff like roman numerals and punctuation on the highlights of their power.  I've noticed that all over oriental countries.  Does that whole family of languages not have written numbers, or something?

Those are not particularily "western", I think. It might well be a loan from the cyrillic alphabet.

I know for a fact that Thai has written numbers.

http://www.mandarintools.com/numbers.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_numerals

Just off the top of my head google.

But yes, I notice a lot of use of Roman and Arabic (technically, Indian) numerals in Asia. I'm wondering if it might just be the same sort of thing as the obsession some westerners have with Chinese and Japanese written symbols. Though there is also the note that Roman numerals tend to be used a lot for stuff that people want to look classy or important (re: chapter numbers, project numbers for [x = whatever] programs, etc.), so there is probably a degree of that involved as well.
