I have a weird memory from my childhood. I was at a day-camp around 1st grade-age. Buncha cool things there. there was a pool. I remember grabbing onto the edge, and pulling myself farther into the pool then I can stand in. Significantly so. I decided to push off from the wall. I started sinking. Not knowing how to swim, I couldn't propel myself up to breathe, nor could I struggle high enough to shout for help. I struggled a little futilely slowly sinking beneath the water. No one noticed me...

And then, My memory cuts to blank, suddenly having me chatting amicably to a counselor there a bit away from the pool. No emergency, no being revived. My mom reports that nothing happened, no counselor pulled me to safety. No reports of something like that. I even remember being there and wondering what happened during that short period.

The weirdest thing is, the odd vibe I get from it. I've always had a weird idea that I died that day, and then it suddenly got reversed. Like a Cosmic Mix-up, or the Reaper picked the wrong time or something like that. Odd as hell.

The Garage Cat Saga continues!  For a while, I thought we were going to end up taking this cat to a shelter.  Now, it's looking more like we're going to adopt her.  A neighbor was nice enough to offer and take her along on an appointment she had for her own cats at the vet.  She got a full examination.  No problems.  Not micro-chipped.  She's about 6 years old.  At this point, I'm also convinced it's the best socialized cat I've ever met.  She loves everybody and puts up with anything.  Didn't mind being put in a crate.  My kids pick her up in awkward ways, sometimes painful looking, and she doesn't complain.  My wife sprayed a hose near her recently, and the water didn't even make her nervous.  She gets along well with other animals.  Is house-trained.  De-clawed.  She's even learned fairly quickly to respect that we don't want her in the house, and doesn't try to sneak in anymore.  I personally like a cat with a little more attitude (I enjoy playful fighting with them), but otherwise this cat is perfect in every way I can think of... and it just randomly showed up a week ago and decided it wanted to be ours.

And my wife is so impressed at this point that she's saying we should try taking her in for a while and see if regular baths and brushing will alleviate the allergy problems.  My guess is such a trial will begin this weekend.  I never believed that something like this would happen.

So a few years ago on April Fools' Day, /tg/ released Dungeons: The Dragoning 40k 7th Edition. Apparently there is a book 2, entitled "For a Few Subtitles More". Not linking the threads, per forum rules, however.

I'm pretty sure it's on sup/tg/ (is linking to sup/tg/ against the rules?)

EDIT: I found it, the thread turns into a discussion of the potential for a Highlander-esque Mary Sue exaltation in Book 3.

Moment of technology-related cognitive dissonance today. Needed a flash drive for class... using my MP3 player for what we're doing was starting to... stress it. Which was bad. So I grabbed one when I went out shopping and... and...

... it's so tiny. I mean, I knew it was small when I got it, but it didn't really hit me until I took the thing out of its packaging. I just stood there staring at it for a bit, poking the package off and on, wondering if something was missing. It's an eight gig flash drive and it's smaller than my thumbnail. Not my thumb. Said thumb's fingernail. Well, I guess technically the thumb, too, but still. But it was just like, like. Where's the rest of it? No, that's really all of it. It's all there. It works, too. It's got more space on it than probably the combined hard drives of the first half dozen or more computers I worked with and I could probably comfortably fit it in my eye socket, if I didn't have an eye in the thing.

Technology. Eesh. I mean, it's great. But it's so... small. Now. Eetsy. Hug it and squeeze it and call it George, except that really would probably squish it into a little silicon pile of electroentrails. Which would be bad.

Ah well. Bring it on, future. Eventually one of these things will probably just be my fingernail, if I live long enough.
