I have recently learned from a friend that John Romero was hired to write the script for the Resident Evil movies, and after he did dedicated research, Capcom hated the script and fired him.

WTF Capcom, I don't know the whole story but I'm pretty sure anything John Romero could come up with would be infinitely better than that forgettable mess you ended up going with.
