lolwut

Fun fact: I have this game on bootleg cartridge. The battery died a month after I bought it, so I can't save. Also faulty programming means I can't even reach the last city

I ran a battle in SSB43DS for long enough that all background music stopped completely. I had to restart the game in order to listen to anything other than noises and voices. I have my tunes back now, but not having them for an hour was unnerving.

I didn't have to lose any data, though, so whew.

Wait, it doesn't loop? That doesn't make a huge amount of sense.
After an hour of looping the same song, it will break and all background music, whether on one stage or another, or in the main menu, will stop.

but i don't want to come to where they usually are, i'd rather have them come here so i can slam them on home turt

* LordSlowpoke writes down slams into [specific idiot term]slam.txt

the wtf here is that i don't usually look forward to shouting at said idiots, it just happens

Huh. Looking through Toady's post history to find DF2010 FOTF questions, instead found out the exact kind of thing that I'm pretty sure got Various Nonsense taken down.

Oh god I can see why people are so annoyed by incessant redtext derails now.

Yeah, apparently Toady used to have a much more informal/personal approach to the forums. Seems to have stopped doing that kind of thing as the game became more popular.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Huh, also found out part of why we don't reply to spambots.

Man, that's intense.

Well, it's not that surprising, is it?

That little stalkerish trawl reminds of me the Wizard of Oz now.

I think the most direct communication I've had with Toady and TT other than donation emails was the one time I asked about combat mechanics and got an extremely detailed answer with math equations, and....

I think that one time I asked about powergoal ...uh I think it was 82 maybe?  The one with the acidproof ring and the dragon.  Don't think the powergoals even exist on the site anymore.   So yea, i missed the Toady and TT personal touch days I think.

EDIT: Yea 89.  It was one of those XKCD 'what if' style questions that stuck with me. Before XKCD was a thing.

"And Greiger, you were there!"
Whether I'll admit to it or not depends on the context.  (Still ashamed of my terrible performance in the original Battle of the Gods game thread)

Future of the Fortress, where I spent most of the crawl, of course :P

Also, power goals are still there and still useful. You're talking about power goal 89, which I must say is damn impressive memory to be even one digit correct, considering the sheer quantity of the things.
