1400 kcal
... 1.4 million calories? That sounds like a lot.
A calorie is very small. What's commonly called 'calories' are kilocalories.

How many bytes is that?
Depends on if you're downloading a burger or a salad.

Wouldn't it depend more on how big your mouth is?

The capitalization is important. A Calorie is 1000 calories.

EDIT: just shaved my ~2-3 weeks of facial hair growth (the hairs in the middle of my chin STILL need to darken, as does my moustache. Want me a glorious beard). My face looks so weird.
So it's back to normal, then? ;)

The original Zionists had quite a few Socialist ideas - just look at the kibbuzim, or at the early history of the Israeli state. Hint, hint: They owe their survival in 1948 to a superpower. Can you guess which one?

For perspective - a calorie is the amount of energy to heat up a gram of water (well, idealized water) 1*C. So, you would have to use 100 000 (100 kcal) to boil a liter of water. And 5 200 000 cal (5 200 kcal), rough estimate, to boil all the water in a human body.

So, Finland gave a guy a 56,000 dollar speeding ticket.  Its actually a pretty cool thing though!  Apparently Finland bases its fines on a persons income, so a guy with no money would get a tiny tiny fine, but if you are a millionaire you could get a massive fine for the same crime.

I kinda like this idea.

As do I. Of course, some guy somewhere will be complaining about how unfair the whole thing is.

They just need to spin it the right way. They could say the "actual" fine is the super high one but poor people get a need based reduction.

Ironically if this was tried in America the people most likely to complain would be the Republicans, despite the fact that the party is strongly Christian and the gospel endorses exactly the kind of reasoning that this law is based on
