Wonder what's the etymology for that word (toon) is. Must be something weird.
As far as I know, it's weird inasmuch as it doesn't exist. It's somewhat questionable if it's even actually derived from cartoon, really. I mean, you'd think it is, but near as I've been able to tell there's not really much evidence for that except it being reasonable.

Is just something that caught on in one of the earlier MMOs (to the person(s) that posited WoW or Toontown, the use of 'toon as reference to a character predates either fairly substantially, iirc) and stuck around.

Mayo is delicious. Even on its own, if you lack the ingredients to make an entire sandwich.

Nutrition wise you might as well just buy a tub of lard :P
When did "nutrition" come into this?
Yeah, who cares about nutrition when you have mayo?

I think I understand what you're talking about, except you're trying to throw out "mass" and "relativistic mass" as terms and I don't know why.

Here's a paper from 1989 that basically goes over why I think that

I can't really get a good tl;dr, since there seems to be a lot of reasoning.

Okay so I don't understand that physics paper. I can't even figure out which terms he supports using.

If you stand in front of a mirror and say "Bloody Einstein" three times he'll appear and explain it to you.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

That was a draft version, where the hybrid kid comes into the real world to kill her father for creating her or something. Instead I think their fucking and the toon's subsequent real personization almost destroys reality or something.

You can't fuck a cartoon because cartoons are in two dimensions and you'd slice your dick off due to having touched the incredibly slight area of contact with any amount of force.

it's a valid concern, but then you have to be in the same dimension as something to fuck it

Okay so I don't understand that physics paper. I can't even figure out which terms he supports using.
He argues that the correct way is to use E0=mc2, where m is the invariant mass - aka rest mass, and the only kind of mass that should be used. The subscript 0 for mass is then not only unnecessary, as there's no need to indicate this being a different kind of mass if there's just one kind to choose from, but also conflicts with Newtonian notation where it's not used (it's just m) despite being the same thing.

The above equation describes the energy content in the rest frame of the system with mass m.

This means, among other things, that you can't use it to get the 'mass' of a photon, since there is no such thing as a rest frame of a photon.

As follows, to describe the energy content of a moving body, you need to use the full equation E2=p2c2+m2c4.

The author argues that using the relativistic mass leads to misconceptions, such as mistaking the relativistic mass for the source of gravity in GR (which it is not - it's energy and momentum).
