I hadn't considered that. I don't get outside much during the week. I'll have to check if the yogurt I eat with lunch is fortified with Vitamin D.

Huh.  I should think about that too...

No. Glass blocks ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation, the type that stimulates vitamin D synthesis by the skin.

... However, you can get sunburned through a window. That’s because windows don’t block UVA, the other harmful type of radiation from sunlight, unless the glass is specially coated or tinted. Like UVB, UVA can cause sunburn and skin aging as well as an increased risk of skin cancer and possibly cataracts and macular degeneration.

Well that seems bloody silly, thanks.

I have been seeing recently things saying that if you are North of Atlanta, the sun doesn't get huh enough in the sky for UVB to penetrate the atmosphere or something like that, so you can't get Vitamin D that way...

Not sure if there's any veracity to that, since I can't find anything that isn't a newspaper that says it.

Hey, store credit is pretty nice! You could easily get yourself a current-gen console with that sort of munies.
console
ಠ_ಠ
You can't buy PCs at a Gamestop, bro. It's all consoles and console games, handhelds and handheld games, and maybe a few PC games.

Also some collectible merch if you're into that sort of thing. Point is, you can't use store credit to buy things that the store don't sell.
And that is why gamestop is doomed to die when consoles do.  The only reason I went to gamestop in the last year was to get free pokeymans.  I think I bought a Charizard amiibo once when I did just out of pure pity for the poor folks working there.

Last I was in there though you could buy steam cards.  I'd just buy $1000 worth of those.  Steam may fail someday too, but I'm thinking it's more likely to turn into gaming microsoft first and live for a century.  I figure consoles have another decade.  Maybe two.

I think consoles have more going for them than you claim, mostly because a top notch console + accessories is miles cheaper than a top notch computer + accessories, most people don't have the time, money, or serious motivation to get a real gaming rig, and malware is just so much more common on computers than consoles (read: more convincing [take windows 10, for example.]).

You also know a game is going to run on a console if it runs on someone else's console.

Wasn'there some controversy a few years ago over the fact that Playstation was taking measures to prevent that? (I'm a Nintendo guy, myself)

For lack of a better word, LOOOOOOOOL.
I mean, maybe it's different where y'all are, but I sure don't see that happening any time soon. The gaming stores here do a roaring trade.
Consoles are pretty sweet anyway, for the reasons people have mentioned already. It also takes a lot more effort to fill them up with porn and malware to the point that they stop working, too. MZ, you should pick up a PS4 and play Naughty Dog games. :)

The Last of Us remains unchallenged as my favourite videogame, and Uncharted 4 is very fun as well- although I've only played the multiplayer.

My WTF: I got rickroll'd at work today. At first I was shocked to hear that played on radio, even an oldies station, but then the host dropped a bombshell: Apparently Rick Astley has returned to the music business for his first tour and album in a whole bunch of years. Wat. 2016 giveth, 2016 taketh away.

...Not 100% sure which category this news falls into. Probably the former, dude's kind of a legend, really.

The adaptive brightness on my computer has, once again, activated itself. There hasn't been some Windows update that could have turned it on, I haven't looked at the control panel or done anything to my display settings. It simply turned itself back on.

I'm not even mad about it anymore.

I've played the first 3 uncharted, and number 4 just kind of sits there looking forlorn whilst I play Hearts of Iron.

Speaking of, what's more heart-crushing than actually bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki in a game?
It not being enough, and then having to bomb Kyoto and Tokyo.
The tooltip popups for those were heart-rending, in a detatched, formal kind of way.

Interesting that I nuked Moscow some 14 times and didn't blink an eye, but when it comes to an actual city where that actually happened it takes on a certain terrifying relevance.

Couldn't play Uncharted 1 'cause of the way the baddies react to getting shot. It felt like they became mimes doing the invisible wall thing, and I found that to be very jarring. Not in a scary way, just... it doesn't seem like a human would react to being shot by becoming Marcel Marceau. Broke my suspension of disbelief so hard.

Never been confident enough to touch a Naughty Dog game since.

Never played uncharted because ps exclusives. Same for last of us.

I have a 360 but no intention to upgrade to a newer console because games are more expensive, HD space more limited and expensive, playing multiplayer costs a yearly subscription fee that playing mp on PC doesn't, and if I upgraded/replaced my PC it would be more useful than a console.

The Last of Us is good. It's a very slow-paced story-heavy game.
But I like it for the story-heavy and other people don't like it for the slow-paced, so really Ymmv.

Only reason ofc that I played any of them was because I have a gullible friend with a play station.
