Temperature? Live with 80-90% humidity and then come talk.  :P
I do, as a matter of fact.
Then it's solidarity against the fuckin' weather.

Hey, you don't know their circumstances.

For all you know these are the most perfect parents on the planet with radiant holy auras.

It sounds like you guys live in literal hell. It's 30c and like 50% humidity here and I'm fucking dying. I need a nice 10-20c to stay comfortable. I think I'd literally die in 50c.

I think though, that I know Eric's circumstances to some degree.

Or at least, that those circumstances included screaming children in public.

I think I'd literally die in 50c.

Yep that is certainly the danger zone.

However, I heard the chanting of screaming children can lower the temperature.

I never understood why human sacrifice is generally a child or young woman. Why not sacrifice an aged person? At least that way they (at least feel like they) achieved something in their life.

Purity. A child is innocent to the ways of the world, a young woman has not yet been soiled by a man's seed, etc, so the sacrifice is more pure and thus more potent, just like cocaine. You don't want your sacrifice to be cut with things like age or pregnancy, you don't want your cocaine cut with sawdust or sugar.

I think it's because old dudes are in charge of society, and so naturally the people who get killed are those far from their demographic.

I got the "screaming children" and "sounds like you live in literal hell" bits of the conversation all mixed up and yet it still made perfect sense.
Actually, I think the sound of Literal Hell might be a tie between screaming/laughing children and cicada song. Hard to say.

You leave cicada song alone, it's the most somber sound in all of nature.

Like the Buddha before his enlightenment, you view what meets your ears as torment because of your egocentrism. You resist the nature of the world in favor of your own desires, but yet are chained and limited by those very desires. In believing yourself to be your own master, in preferring something illusory over the reality of cicada song, you have in fact become less free.

Accept the cicadas for what they are, and be liberated.

I have always found the sound of cicadas that when its so hot you can see the heat makes that droning noise to be the worst. it just feels like the sound of suffering.
