I have no idea how to comfortably wear headphones.

Maybe they weren't meant to be worn for long periods of time, but these over-ear headphones I've got make my ears hurt after too long wearing it, and whenever I try to adjust it I wind up not hearing the sound as well.

Are they on-ear or over-ear? Big difference. Used to think I couldn't stand big headphones because they crushed my ears. Turns out I have oddly shaped ears and on-ear headphones are basically pain after an air of use. Tried on a set of leather cupped massive over-ear headphones, and it was like having a pair of breasts that played KMFDM smushed against the sides of my head- heaven. Only problem is that you have to air out your ears periodically.

Alternately, you could consider bone conduction if you really can't find anything that your head likes.

Had hernia surgery, was told I di dwell in operation, etc.

Recovery time after surgery: I eat nothing buy high fiber foods (Lots of Humas, salads), and can't BM. I take the proper pain medications but have great pain in incision area (unknown why).

I think they mean earbuds that you *can* stand for a few minutes, you can probably stand for hours. It's that first hump that's key.
