Can I get an honest answer to this question: Has anyone here bought one of Tingle books, even if ironically?

You buy something ironically if your purpose in buying is to be ironic.

Even for the sake of my muse (Irony), though, I would not buy one of those books. It's not something I'd like to feed.

Man did not struggle from Ancient times to compose works of great beauty on costly parchment, preserve their works from fires and floods, and spend their lives writing books just so some dude in modern times can write about ass-loving raptors who stick their genitalia into promiscuous astronauts.

If someone were to offer me one of the books for free, I'd tell them to go away.

In other news, I visited my local market today, like a big area filled with niche little stores selling slightly overpriced and pretentious goods. There's the homeopathic medicine vendor, the geode and other assorted worthless minerals-as-jewelry vendor, the homemade soap vendor, the three different bakeries, and of course the 'organic' foods vendor.

They had this very wide selection of milks, about quadruple the price of ordinary milk, but they come in really nice half-gallon glass containers. I asked what's so special about this milk, "It's non-homogenized, from non-GMO cows!" and you know me, I don't argue with people, though I did want to argue, god did I want to. A close examination of the bottle showed that a thick layer of cream was resting at the top, and that's what sold me as I hadn't ever had cream straight from milk before, and I already routinely eat spoiled and unsanitary things so the homely quality to the milk doesn't scare me one bit. Apparently I can return the bottle after I've drank the milk for a small rebate, but I'm thinking I'll keep this baby forever as a souvenir.

Another vendor for home-grown foods, I decided to buy a dozen of brown eggs, about sextuple the price of grocery store eggs, but I didn't want to make a trip to the grocery store to replenish my eggs and I'm an idiot that doesn't spend his money on anything meaningful anyway. I asked what makes them so special at the counter, "There's no chemicals in them!" and I wanted to ask what chemicals are in ordinary eggs, but I decided to stick to my non-argumentative policy.

Though I did get in a really nice conversation with the guy that works at the BBQ place in there, and I suppose there wasn't anything special about that, it's just pleasant whenever I get to talk to people like a normal human being, as it's a rare occurrence and I'm a lonely sad soul, as you guys know.

GMO cows are real.  Not sure if they're common, and claims like "free range" and "organically grown" and such have a habit of turning out false or mixed.  So you probably would have been right to argue, but I suppose technically they might have a point?  I don't know enough about agriculture to say.

My dude, so many classic artifacts that have been recovered have been thinly veiled porn.  Pottery with smut on it, "fertility symbols", that one story about Zeus turning into "golden rain" (which is like, at least 3 different fetishes going on there).

My point being that the writing itself was a thing of beauty. Odin may have slutted his way through Old Norse Scandinavia, but the chroniclers wrote him doing it with style.

My suspicion is that Mr. Tingle does not have 'stylish writing' in his curriculum vitae.

I disagree wholeheartedly, and without reservation.

Picked up a used laptop today, my other one took a rather nasty spill as the bag it was carried in detached its strap when it flipped over on itself and unclipped.

This one is a cute little lenovo, and it has a little red mouse . . . stick/nipple.  I can cruise the internet on my cool red mouse nub situated comfortable between the (g), (h), and (b) keys.  Unfortunately it wont click, but thats why I have mouse buttons above the mousepad!

Its nostalgic enough that I havent gotten annoyed about it yet, but give it time.

So.... playing Rimworld.

One of my characters rescued a space refuggee, who promptly joined my colony. Said refugee is an useful member and works hard. One of my main sources of income too through stone carving.

So, said refugee is angry after failing to woo one of my colonists into a relationship.

Perhaps I should have mentioned that the refugee is an Elder Thing. Yeah, Jecrell´s mod is great but it can lead to... strange bedfellows :p

I am kind of late for the whole "ancient texts are pure and holy" discussion, but...

One text I got to study was a public declaration, from the fourteenth century, that would have been placed in a public spot somewhere in the Iberian peninsula, so that literate people could read to those who were not. It was basically a list of dos and do nots. One of them? "Don't rub holy objects on your body with the purpose of passing your smell onto them". Rather specific. I can't for the life of me find the damn text, though.

In the Liber Pontificallis, there's a passage nonchalantly saying Adrian I had the basillicas of what is now the Vatican restored... because there were horses grazing inside.

In short, people wrote a bunch of crap in parchments, it's just that not a lot has survived to this day.
