So, GF's been watching a lot of YouTube lately, and over the past few weeks I've seen someone pop up in the videos who looked weirdly familiar, like I should know his face from somewhere.

Tonight, I saw some captions on the video that seemed to indicate his name. Quick Google search, looked at the picture, yep... Same dude.

She's been watching Shane Dawson.

Of Dawson's Creek fame?

Do we have strong feeling on Shane Dawson here? I prefer his weird hoarder of a friend personally.

I'm just recalling from my frail memory here, but I think he said "Yeah I bet you do big boy..."

Alright but we should rename the North American continent into America Major

I feel rather minor TBH
Nah, it's larger by land area if I'm not wildly misremembering. It (or something of similar intent) would actually probably be a pretty good idea at some point in the near-ish future. We're probably coming up on a magnetic flip in the next millennia or three and it'd be a decent way to future proof our geography. No need to confuse the chillins when the compass starts pointing towards south america...

Y'all can't even switch to a measurement system that would objectively be an incredible improvement now and you want to erase all directional references in case of a magnetic field flip in a few centuries?

That sounds like an extremely subjective viewpoint to me.  After all, without any measuring tools at all I can still use imperial to perform important tasks.  It won't be precise, but using the second joint of my index finger for an inch is a hell of a lot closer than "I think that's about three centimeters, but I don't have a ruler".  And gods help you if you're trying to approximate anything larger, the distance from my wrist to the base of my bicep = 1 foot is much more reliable than whatever you would use in metric.  But to be completely fair, your whole measurement system originates from a point exactly as supposedly arbitrary as ours, after all, the base unit is the 'meter' of a man's stride.

Sincerely: a contrary rebellious Yank.

No, the base unit is 1/40000000th the circumference of the Earth, and everything is base 10. It's a good system. As measuring with body parts... You're just messing with us, right? You do realise once you learn metric it becomes intuitive too... Right?
