God I hate EC apologists, just admit it's terrible and stop making up excuses.

"Apologists"? As if the EC was the direct cause of a genocide at some point.

And I think you should realize that dismissing my arguments as "excuses" without any actual refutation and then making a personal attack probably isn't going to change my mind.

Because every excuse for the EC torn down a million times and I don't feel like rehashing it at 2 in the morning.

No, as if it's controversial and you're defending it. That's the secular meaning of "apologist", as opposed to theological apologetics.

The Electoral College was never meant as a defense against the tyranny of the majority, by the way. It was meant, in an era when nationwide campaign rallies were impossible and mass communication moved at the speed of horse, to produce some vague barrier against electing someone awful by ensuring the actual electors could, in theory, make a more educated choice than their voters, if only by dint of being in physical proximity to the candidates at some point.

Structurally, it's either undemocratic or unnecessary, and in practice it's mostly been both.

If regional representation beyond regional self-governance is actually a good thing, then the Senate already covers that. The Electoral College concentrates disproportionate power in the most dangerous places for that power to be concentrated. The issue will probably become mostly moot as progress intensifies[Or as humanity dies in fire], but right now the Electoral College is a serious flaw in American democracy.

Genocide, not that I'm aware of. Lots of death? Definitely. Only going to be more casualties.

right now the Electoral College is a serious flaw in American democracy.

It is uniquely without rational defense, either contemporary or historical; Publius, at least, just kind of argued by assertion that elections are so innately awesome the Presidency will be just fine ... even as they argued for including a way to ignore elections in case that didn't turn out to be true. Every time it's been used,it's caused public outcry. There aren't many good bits of governmental apparatus composed of members prevented by law from doing the thing their position exists to facilitate, either.

Apparently microneedling hair growth treatment is a thing. Just saw an advertisement for a "beard-roller", where you microneedle your own face in order to stimulate beard growth.

I, uh... I have to admit, the description text of "The Power Micro Needle Roller for Beard creates micropunctures in and around the hair follicles, leading to improved blood circulation and increased collagen production and thereby stimulating faster, healthier hair growth" was setting off an orchestra of bullshit alarm chimes. But... I guess initial study results are actually slightly favorable? Huh.

There's still way too little proper research on the subject, not to mention I don't think there are any real studies on how it affects facial hair growth compared to scalp growth, so it's still a bit of a stretch to call the Beard-roller scientifically sound... But it's leaning in that direction, which is considerably more than I was expecting.

I feel a bit strange about all this.

Even if it works, using a roller to repeatedly stab your face with the same needles sounds horribly unhygienic. I don't think a beard is worth an infection.

I mean. Beards can cause (mild, generally) infections even if you're taking care of them pretty well. Ingrown hair and whatnot. So, like. If they're not no one would have them :V

Why can't you just love your beardless face the way it is?

Well, in my case, the default state is "homeless guy beard", and "cleanly shaven" results in horrible shaving bumps of epic daily torture.

The occasional ingrown hair is a mild irritant, compared to your whole damn face being nothing but one giant red, itchy plaque.

Of course, your mileage may vary. :P

Beardless faces are okay. Better than bearded ones, even!
The worst thing, though, is when you get burdened with a shit face that grows plenty of beard in some parts whilst remaining practically bald in others. Crud.

I'm too depressed to shave very often these days so I go for fairly long periods of looking like shit - the parts of my mug that grow hair grow it quickly. :P
