Commercial fig breeds are sterile and need not contain wasps, although, as I understand, wasps are considered beneficial for proper fig development, so, depending on grower, they may.

There's real discussion about that apparently, along with other plants which rely on artificially exploiting bees for pollination.  I don't know what the consensus is, but I got the impression that it's acceptable for most.  Though wild native bees have been having trouble for years now, and people are concerned that the use in farming contributes to that.
