let alone waterboarding (which some folks also do).
Ah so that's what they mean by "enhanced interrogation techniques"

Can't think of anything sexier than being strapped to a table and nearly drowning, except maybe being set on fire, or being shot in the face with a shotgun.

Ugh. Degenerates.

Next you'll be advocating for hand-holding or some filth.

In public.

Toooootally unrelated- I have a date on friday, and I may also be reconnecting with the gal I dated briefly last year just before the pandemic hit. I can feel semi-safe about this with vaccination now.

Oh god, I just wrote a script to automate the process of interpreting audio as video and back (and I think that's as short as I can go), and the output sounds awful.

I guess when I did it to Bad Apple, the fact that it's mixed loudly drowns out the noise caused by being in 8-bit PCM. With quieter media (as in a short film), it just sounds like the screams of the damned. Digital screams of the damned. It's awful, like someone's loading a program off cassette tape and printing with a dot-matrix printer at the same time, and the infernal noise just gets louder the louder the source audio gets. Good lord. It's all gone to Quantized Hell. You only get 48 dB of dynamic range with 8-bit PCM. I think I may need to experiment with companding or just plain dynamic range compression to get it to not sound... like that.

I'm sad for you Caz. :(

But it's good at least that you had the chance to give some love to your ailing chicken in her last moments.

Thanks dude. I buried her in a sunny spot.

... fonzie rerun on tv, apparently. I have now seen the actual jumping the shark moment, offline, because for some reason it was the one running.

Dunno if it's as ridiculous as advertised, but it definitely left me with negative interest in ever seeing footage from the show again, so.

just make sure you hold your pinkies out while you enjoy your food to gain a net positive value on 'classiness.'

My parents send me my medication and other stuff periodically. This time, the "other stuff" includes an analog watch. A fancy-looking one, at that.

Now, two things: I don't wear analog watches (I'm not used to reading the dials), and I have never expressed a desire to own fancy fashion stuff. I'm almost afraid to wear this thing, considering how badly I treat my belongings. It's a leather strap, too; I can't wear this in the shower.

Fakedit: It wasn't included on purpose; I asked. Good. It's an odd thing to give someone like me; the strap's not even the right size for me.

Mystery - how do you accidentally include a watch in a package? Did it fall off their arm? Is their arm intact?!?

Anyway, today's WTF is the baffling US medical payments system. I just got a bill for a small amount (less than $100) related to my son's broken arm. No, the WTF is not that the bill came this week (early April) for an event that occurred in January. The WTF is I tried to pay it - but the online payment says I have a $0 balance.  So I called - and they said they are trying to re-code it.

So their computer systems send out a bill from some system, then there is some other system that flags it as needing to be re-coded after sending out a bill.  Because of that, they can't even take my money...
