Need brave beta testers!

Everything is here : Dwarf companion page

Please note that you will need to install several software packages to use this! And it's quite buggy too  :)

Just reposted a new version that should hopefully work. It only works with python2.4. When this message appears, you should have a popup. What does it say?

Mwahaha.  Everyone join up on IRC too.  Just so we can see who breaks what and gets how many special bonus points.  :)

Okay, got it to work. It shows up the GUI nicely, with the buttons and stuff and... *cough* well, but when I start fortress mode, it freezes my entire computer. IF I start it AFTER starting fortress mode, it spam me with errors, like this:

Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "C:\Documents and Settings\Henrique\Desktop\utils\utils\dfcompanion_prototype.py", line 290, in ?
   DFcmp = DFcompanion()
 File "C:\Documents and Settings\Henrique\Desktop\utils\utils\dfcompanion_prototype.py", line 272, in __init__
   self.initList()
 File "C:\Documents and Settings\Henrique\Desktop\utils\utils\dfcompanion_prototype.py", line 97, in initList
   list = self.dd.getCreatures(self.showmode)
 File "C:\Documents and Settings\Henrique\Desktop\utils\utils\dwarfdbg.py", line 344, in getCreatures
   col = self.getCreature(c)
 File "C:\Documents and Settings\Henrique\Desktop\utils\utils\dwarfdbg.py", line 156, in getCreature
   name = self.getName(c, details)
 File "C:\Documents and Settings\Henrique\Desktop\utils\utils\dwarfdbg.py", line 100, in getName
   return name + lastname
UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x86 in position 2: unexpected code byte

AND crashes DF...   :roll:

I just reenacted resident evil with a fortress I got tired of...this is awesome. So far the zombies are losing.(I didn't zombify my 3 crossbowmen and 2 greatsword recruits.) But my military is fairly badly wounded so it's still a toss up.

This is awesome.  I look forward to enjoying the ruins in adventure mode.

As a side note 0X1.4 might (possibly) be stealth mode. but I'm not sure.

EDIT: D'oh! I got an adventurer there (the fortress happens to be at the ass end of nowhere so it took half an hour to get there)  Only to get bitten in half by a saltwater croc before even coming within sight of the main wall.  I wanted to fight the zombies for my steel Greatswords...and steel large serrated "discus"

Any chance you can make it work on 2.5? I'm not installing Python again just for this.

Well.. maybe if somebody finds something awesome you can do ;D And maybe if you make it work on 33g.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

I just uploaded a new version that SHOULD work with 33g (i didn't test it at all, holidays and stuff ...).

For python 2.5 it might be possible if i use the native api instead of pydbg.
