I like the drow. I dislike skill rust (lots of default skills == lots of skill rust) but I like the drow.

What's even more awesome, I have a war with dwarves leftover from worldgen. I look forward to Funtm.

i had one with war too, but they never showed up... after checking legends with a copy of the save, it looked like the dwarfs extingiushed the drow civ, just to get ripped appart from goblins and treehuggers in the late years, but still had some cities (unlike the drow in that case).

not sure if thats a bug that dwarf dont siege in war, or something else i missed (80 pop cap now for war sieges too? in 40d they would have started wth the second year no matter what)

The range of equipment available is a bit intimidating though.

Not sure which pieces of armour go with which, that sort of thing. Or what some of the clothing is.

beside the piwafi (cloak) everything is kinda the same as with dwarfs, just a prefix to show its a different "style" some armors have a little less cover than dwarven equivalents but else, dont really know whats the problem with it :x

offhand stuff are kinda shields, i have no idea how to prohibit them from making from leather

It appears the mod adds two versions of Mithril, not just one: Mithril, and Mithral. This causes many problems with moods, as dwarves apparently cannot distinguish between the two, and kill themselves over not being able to obtain Mithril, when all is available is Mithral.

they are two totally distinct metals with nearly similar name ... well except that you need mithril to make mithral ... mithral is kinda the steel to the mithril iron :x

edit: also now thinking of it, moods never look for a certain metal, they just want metal bars of *any* kind so your bug report seems to be kinda suspiously
the only thing would be mandates, but if they state they want mithril stuff made and you only make something from mithral it wont work. of course, just as it wont work to make steel stuff than they want iron

If a metalsmith (armorsmith, weaponsmith.. whatever) has a preference for a certain type of metal in their thoughts, then they can demand that particular metal for their moods. It won't explicitly say it in their list of demands, but they won't work with anything else.

That was the artifact I was able to save when I finally realized that the Mithril was being made into Mithral bars. I can respect the suspicion, as I did not even think of it, until just now, that it was strange that the Metalsmith was wanting Mithril, and not any other type of metal. If it comes to it, I will check my back-up saves to see if he ever called for Mithril, but I can assure you that he did. I do not know if it was because of the introduction of the mod, altered raws, or what, but it did. I had gold, copper, silver, lead, and hundreds of other metals, but the damned smith wanted Mithril, and Body parts, thinking of it.

Still, that seems rather redundant to call the second metal Mithral. It was highly confusing, and I didn't realize it until I received an announcement saying "Cancels make Mithral Bars: Needs Mithril bars" or the like. That, and the similarity of their names is what caused me to think that one was simply an accidental addition and/or typo.

well ok for the .19 release i will rename it into mithralsteel to reduce confusion about a single letter :p

maybe i am used to it because tin and zinc in german are too "zinn" and "zink" an easily to confuse :x

still waiting for .19 because i want to see about the changes toady made to the raws to bring the drow mod in order

*added new jobs to drow (beekeeping doesnt make sense for now but there are actually deep honey insects, maybe we can get colony vermin for underground too)
*made rothe to have wool and be shearable also they are grazer now (need underground fungi) as underground beats they eat not much (get value from goats)
*giant lizards lay eggs like crocs (only reptile with lay eggs for now in vanilla?)
*added new mod_desc_range tag to drow and drider
*renamed mithral into mithralsteel to make sure noone confuses it with mithril (although it may be very hard to obtain now with scarse lead and mithril vines)
*added graphic tags for the new jobs to the default job (so shearer, spinner etc use the default farmer one)

*added some minor new tags (leathery egg for lizard, sound for rothe, skill_learn_rate for drow castes: faster fighting but slower with some working skills)
