I think you may be mis-using this terminology, since to find the 'circus' one has to have already found the 'cotton candy'...  The 'circus' is NOT the magma sea, but what lies beneath, down through the 'cotton candy' elevators

Don't know for sure that it's uninitialized memory.  Murky pools are randomly distributed even across different peoples' embarking to the same locations, aren't they?  I suppose that might be a bug too though.

Did you say it went 200 Z-levels into the air, or did you mean it went 200 total, like, -130 to +70?

The FPS issues, and occasional refusal of the game to do important things like "mine", are probably more related to having 2000+ z-levels when this bugs out even more hardcore.

It is most definitely an error.  If you try and re-gen that world and embark on that same exact area, you will not get the spires.  The exposed spires and even occasionally exposed magma sea, seem to be related to something in memory not getting cleared properly causing oddities in worldgen.

Time to see if we can recreate it by running DF in a memory space where every byte is pre-initialized to "11111111".

The Circus, Clowns and Cotton Candy are indeed psedo code speak for some of the more Fun & FUN, and later game items.

We use this code speak so it doesn't ruin your first experience with them. Once you've struck'em, you should come to terms with the hidden meaning.

Yeah, loaded the save. And this is why I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever, do that again without about a bajillion pounds of Rock to drop on evil clown heads.

Gold, silver, and platinum. I have now hit 10mil worth in my fort after 2 years. 1.5mil is from an artifact adamantine shield and anoher is an  150k artifact bone helm, both of which I gave to my Commander
