Repeatedly fell and died because the controls are bullshit

Use a game controller. Legends, anniversary, and underworld are (IMHO) practically unplayable with a keyboard and mouse.

Lost to Akinator. It guessed Väinämöinen quite quickly, but at least the following game was good, with it failing to get Mwindo from the Kongolese Mwindo Epic after 73 questions... though it got eerily close, guessing Sundjata, a Malinese epic.

A potato was giving me a heart-to-heart, while I was riding a tractor beam. I missed the landing getting off the beam, and fell to my death.

EDIT: Driving instruction during training mission. The officer in charge tells me to take the jeep to the next course, then bring it back or he'll rip my intestines out and use them for a scarf(something to that effect). Shitty physics caused my jeep to flip sideways. I can't figure out how to flip it back. I clear several more training courses, then walk by the motor pool. The officer in charge yells "Dammit man, where's my jeep?!".

MISSION FAILED - Failed to carry out orders.

I literally have three lords trying to attack my isolated, lone village.

It's clearly a conspiracy of some kind to keep random foreigners from rising up and taking over Calradia.

Found out I can spawn in some of the default ships I see in the title screen now and then and test them out against my own creations in sandbox.  Happy to see how my creations stand up I pit my best AA ship against something called a Wyvern, really the only thing that was obviously a plane I could see from the preview.

My AA ship has the best guns I ever managed to design, a pair of 6 barrel turreted frag warhead loaded 550meters/second beasts. Those suckers tear through my crappy planes, and is even a serious threat to my heavily armored zeppelin, and even the lighter armored ships.  I expected it to take the wyvern down after a few seconds of sustained fire if the shjp's missiles didn't get there first.

The wyvern would have none of that.  The AA guns could only get glancing hits, just a few hits from the fuses detonating the warhead and spraying some frags at it, no good solid hits, and the frags seemed to be doing basically nothing.  And the AA missiles couldn't even keep up with the thing.  I spawned 2 more of those AA ships to no avail.  I eventually spawned my beefiest battleship to take the hits from the wyvern while the AA ships got free rein to do what they could, and they were still ineffective.  The only damage I did to it was a massively lucky shot from the battleship's main gun which blew off a wing when the wyvern decided to turn around right into it, and the damn thing still flew, that main gun can punch a hole through 3 meters of metal armor you could drive a truck through, and still nothing.

Clearly I need to reevaluate my designs if I need to compete with stuff like that.

If your laptop has even a single USB port, you can plug in a controller.

Just as he was being shot through the chest, a German soldier threw a grenade much further than I thought I could. It landed in the midst of the squad, killing everyone including the guy we were escorting. Some of them should have been outside the blast radius, but then again I can never tell what the blast radius is.

Clearly I need to reevaluate my designs if I need to compete with stuff like that.

I took the Wyvern for a spin. It's mostly covered in Reflect shields(drive factor 3.0), so the fragmentation is probably bouncing off. Also, the Wyvern does not need its wings for flight, as it appears to fly and maneuver entirely with thrusters. It does not appear to have any EMP defense, however.

My recent experience with the game is trying to build a land-based trains. Sadly, physics does not agree with me.

Wait. Why is my spirit familiar atta...blrglhl

Looks like someone charmed my familiar. I though familiars were immune to that, looks like the extra special spirit familiar that is way stronger than you, which the TW class gets, is not immune to it.

What the hell is with these missions. Had to take a bunker hill from the Japanese, in the rain and fog. You're supposed to be supporting another SAS unit, along with a tank and artillery. They're largely useless, most die possibly scripted deaths including the tank, and the artillery only damages you. I literally saw one Japanese soldier take a direct hit and didn't even flinch.

Even worse is the rest of your squad are five kinds of useless. Because I was basically killing the enemy by myself, I eventually ran out of bullets*, so I tried to clear the interior of the bunker from the Japanese with my knife.

One of the total squad wipes were caused by everyone in the squad deciding to use a ladder at once, locking everyone in place, followed by either a Japanese grenade or friendly artillery strike.

Wow, I haven't been this legitimately furious in many, many years.  I can't really convey how angry the Donkey Kong minigame in Donkey Kong 64 made me.

It's not even that hard, aside from having to retrain myself to the thought that if Mario falls more than 20 pixels he dies in it, and that you only get 1 life to beat 4 levels.

No, the worst part is every time you die, you have to sit through Donkey Kong turning around, punching instead of doing what you ask, winding up, cracking his knuckles, pulling a lever, falling on his butt, and then watching the game slowly transition into an arcade cabinet that plays the intro to the game before you can try again.

It takes 30.  Full.  Seconds.  Every.  Time.  You.  Die.  To.  Try.  Again.  I timed it.  30 seconds doesn't sound like a lot, but try counting them out.  I spent about 40 minutes trying to beat the mini game to get a required item.  I made it to level 4 once, and level 3 about 10 time, so I don't know, maybe died 30 times?

I'm actually legitimately surprised at how many things in this game are just badly designed like this.

Yep, I saw that.  And the second time it even gets harder.

I want to like this game.  I really do.  But thinking about that...

Agreed.  I really like every other Donkey Kong game I've played, but this one is a little is testing my patience a lot.  I joked to my brother that they could have called the game "You Brought the Wrong Dang Monkey 64" since you have to switch between the characters so frequently because you stumbled across a banana that's the wrong color.

What's a little more surprising is that the controls are kind of bad, and the camera can be very bad.  I've missed tons of jumps because the camera angle caused a character to stick to a wall instead of move where I expected.  Edge grabbing is really dodgy.  I also wasted about 10 minutes once because I thought Chunky couldn't climb ladders in the factory, since his collision glitched out.  Every other character could walk up to them, but he had to jump into them for some reason.  Discovered that by accident.

The collectathon parts don't feel that bad, really, now that I've gotten kind of used to it, but that minigame is still awful.  The weird thing about it is that so far I believe literally every other minigame lets you retry by just hitting a button.  Not this one!  I'm also really not looking forward to retrying that race with the stupid beetle that was also almost impossible.
