Fell to my death 3 or 4 times in the engine room in Rusty Bucket Bay in Banjo-Kazooie.  That's more deaths than I've had in the rest of the game combined.

I still really like this game, but I want to punch whoever designed this level.  I spent a good hour collecting music notes in the level before I even found how to get into the engine room, then promptly died.  Oops, got to collect them all again.  Oh yeah, and that switch I triggered to stop the propeller blades so I could advance?  That got reset too, which I only remembered after I died a few more times and got to that point but couldn't advance.  So every time I died I had to go do that first.  Oh yeah, and then there's a 65 second timer to get back out of the engine room and swim down to the propellers to get a jiggy, all while I'm frantically fighting to make Banjo and Kazooie face the right way while swimming, lest they drown because the water is poisonous in this level.

Then I spent another hour looking for the last jiggy and 11 music notes only to finally give up and google it.  I was on the lookout for things I could break to get into a hidden room, since I knew that had to be where they were, but I wasn't expecting the windows on the side of the ship, which are extremely inconspicuous and look textured on, to be the things I had to break...

Rusty Bucket Bay is cancer and we do not talk about it because the rest of the game is pure gold.

It's like they refined all the crap from other levels, leaving them shiny and good, but then the extra chaff and detritus fell to the bottom of the cartridge and formed a level.

Also holy geez the next level is Click Clock Wood which is basically the best level in any platformer, ever. I still hum the music without thinking.

The Suicide Mission didn't go the way I hoped. And I have to redo the entire thing to set it right.

Mass Effect 2.

You'll have to be more specific, there's like 7,996 of those in the first game alone

Oh, I thought he was joking around. When the first game came out there was a (false, of course) Fox News report that made the game out to be straight-up porno. Probably sold quite a few more copies of the game.

The character you're thinking of is Morinth, who you actually can get to join your party. Mordin is the singing frog scientist man who has a lot of very emotional moments in 3, but is replaced by a completely different NPC if he didn't survive 2 (as are many characters that can die or simply be missed throughout the series.)

Ashley is the objectively best choice to leave behind in 1

I actually don't like either of them.

Of the human non-DLC squad, the only one I actually really like and care about is Vega in 3. If I had the choice I would leave Ashley, Kaidan, Miranda and Jacob all on Virmire.

Jacob’s alright.

Jack is my favourite of the humans though, she has some depth beyond corporate stooge and corporate strongman and poetic space racist. She’s a more interesting Kaidan, really.

Vega is unnecessarily muscular, and appears in the worst of the three games, so he can go away.

I don't get why they didn't just turn on the Normandy's stealth system, fly in fast and hard, and drop the nuke on target. The landing on Ilos proves that Joker is fully capable of landing an object on a very small target while flying very fast.

Also, wasn't the AA battery controlled by a single tower in the base? They could have just shot it with the Normandy's main gun while flying in under its coverage. Hell, if Gunnery Chief "Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space!" from the sequel is anything to go by, they could have just vaporized the entire base with a shot from the Normandy's main gun.

The Normandy didn't have a gun that strong, pretty sure. The Issac Newton speech was about the main gun of a dreadnought, aka the cannon that runs the entire length of a vessel a good three times the size of the Normandy.

The Normandy SR1 was a good ship, but she simply didn't have that kind of firepower available.

What about when you're just starting and don't have him recruited yet?
