Successful building on Kubuntu 14.10 x64
dfhack 0.40.16-r1
plugins/isoworld replaced with code from https://github.com/JapaMala/isoworld
plugins/isoworld/agui folder replaced with the link to https://github.com/jmasterx/Agui clone,
manual method:

And now I'll try to reproduce it in
a single script.

FYI, this worked for me too on Fedora 20 (x86_64). Just make sure you have the appropriate i686 dev libs installed:
allegro5-devel.i686 allegro5-addon-image-devel.i686 allegro5-addon-ttf-devel.i686

edit: now what is the process to view my map with it? Exporting the map info is one thing, but what's with the Connect button? Connect to what?

Great :)
FYI: allegro5 i386 libs are not realistically installable by apt-get on amd64 *buntu without breaking package dependencies. But it works with STONESENSE_INTERNAL_SO (default) just fine.
It connects to Dwarf Fortress and shows more detailed maps (Fort mode on my screenshot, for example). And you can also follow your movements in Adv mode. Just open one of the exported files. I keep forgetting which one.

There should be a connect button, and a load button. The load button loads up the map, and the connect button hooks into a recent version of DFHack to render the detailed map.

Is there an option to turn off the edge-wrap?  So that when you browse to the east edge of the map, it doesn't start displaying the west edge?

Or a way to force the view box to stay within the boundaries instead of overflowing across the edge?

Not at the moment, no, for either of those.

I could add that in if I ever have time, though.

Sorry guys I was busy lately - I haven't forgot about Gentoo 64bit compiling tutorial (yes I know it is not the most popular distro in the world but this is what I'm using :) - it's almost ready, just polishing some stuff and waiting for dfhack .40.19 to emerge. The problem is that Gentoo is very flexible and there are many different configurations out there so my tutorial will not work for everyone (for example emul-linux users).

On a side note I've FINALLY started workig on IsoWorld TileStitcher GUI (Qt):
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I will announce the finished app in a separate thread.

Reporting on int_ua's steps, I can confirm that Isoworld will build and run on Linux Mint 17 Qiana along with the latest DFHack version (.40.19).

I can)
You need to have Starter Pack 40.19, some version before this are n't working with detailed map normally, and as first step you must export from DF at least one map? such as Biome map for example. After it you should open in iso world this map and start play DF in Adv or Fortress mode... then you can see the detailed map)

Can I please get a laymans explanation on how to hook this up for adventurer mode? a simple "put X file in Y location" ?I can't get it working, and even my world view is just colored blocks, no fancy tiles like you guys seem to have.

Once you've exported all the maps from legends mode, and exported them, you can use the dropdown menu to change the rendering style, and use the connect button to connect to a running DF instance.

What files do I need to put where to get it to connect to DF hack? You didn't really answer my question at all. All the maps are working fine in Isoworld, but when I'm travelling around the map in adventure mode and click connect, or follow, nothing at all happens. I'm sure some files aren't where they should be, but you havent told me where they should go. Unlike a lot of the other people here, I'm not a computer programmer so it's not obvious to me where things go.
