minecrarft is nice until we can play fort mode like adventure mode (i.e. as the expedition leader)  :P

Well, I believe we have a winner, Dwarf Fortress > Minecraft

Dwarf Fortress has way more features and is free, but lacks the time to get into it, and someone always trolls about ASCII graphics (Which isn't really that bad.)
Minecraft has graphics and is simple to play, but lacks in much anything to do, and requires you to pay a one-time fee.
