At first the 360 was ontop... but then it slowed down and let the PS3 catch them

But overall I WAAAY prefer the PS3 because it has free multiplayer

The 360 annoyingly only comes with an overcharged 3 month plan... or a 1 year plan unless you order it online.

THEY DID, I think. Maybe it was only in the GBA port. Either way, it was a sort of lame arena-type multiplayer game where player 2 played as one of those nigh-invulnerable enemies.

I'm partial to the Game Boy Color myself, though.

NES man.  It's the only thing hooked up to my TV (including normal TV reception, IE, I have none).

Last time I went to visit a friend...they also had their NES out, along with some new games they had recently bought.  Mario 2!  Awesome!  And the punishingly hard Empire Strikes Back game.  I recently replaced my 72-pin connector, so I don't even have to blow in it anymore (which usually never works, it's just taking the cartridge out and trying it again enough times that makes it work).

On the other hand, SNES does have FFIV, so maybe I should upgrade someday.  :/

Consoles are good for certain genres(not FPS) and for having fun with friends in the same room.

Retro-consoles from your childhood are superior for another reason:

My ideal mate knows (at the VERY least) where the hidden 1-up on Super Mario Bros, world 1-1, is.  If she doesn't, then she's either A) not a nerd, or B) not in my age range.  So yes you can use certain consoles for important life purposes.
