Treasuredepths - An adventure mode dungeon
« on: November 25, 2010, 01:30:25 pm »

Once upon a time, there was a human called Kado Beastslayer. She wandered the wilds, killed bad guys, but did nothing that would earn her a place in the history books.

Until the year of 250. Kado was hired by the Sizzling Furnaces, a dwarven kingdom, to slay a wolf that had tormented their people.

Above: Kado approaches the wolf's lair.

The quest was an unusually easy one. The wolf had a name and all, but still, it was just a wolf. Kado returned triumphant to the dwarves, who were overjoyed by her success. They offered her to retreat to a life of luxury in their village, which she gladly accepted.

Little did she know of the true motives behind this quest. A secret team of the Mountainhomes' seven best dwarves was already en route to the now empty lair, where they founded Idräthamas, Treasuredepths - a fortress where the wealth of the dwarves would be kept safe from their many enemies, guarded by strong walls and ingenious traps. For four years, the fortress flourished. Riches were amassed in the secret vaults. But in 254, contact with Treasuredepths ceased. No one knew why.

Meanwhile rumors had spread to the outside world of the dwarves' great treasure fortress. Although accounts varied, it was universally agreed that only someone chosen by fate as the vanguard of destiny would be able to avoid its traps, and win its riches...

A lot of people have been asking for player-built adventure dungeons, so I thought I'd make one. I hope you'll like it.

Find the fortress with the map above. I won't give you any hints other than be attentive, and look before you touch. The fortress cannot be "reset" if you screw up however, so you might want to save the game and make a copy of the save before you enter.

 Worked fine for me!

I didn't last long though.. and I'd found an artifact and some diamonds. I'd recommend using a dwarven char so that you can make use of all the small clothing and armour. :P

Seems cool, gonna try again now..

Pulled lever, got crushed.  That was... expedient.  Was there some clue I should have picked up on, or are the traps random?

There are clues. Just look closely. Picking things off the ground wouldn't hurt.

This pure mountain spring water is indispensable. Literally. I'm out of paper cups.
