I'm not sure why but pretty much everyone I see walking at night is wearing dark clothing.

Also possible they bought the clothes during a period they didn't expect they'd be wandering around at night, and are in a situation they can't really replace them. S'usually something going on than just stupidity -- most folks aren't actually suicidally stupid, they're just forced into poor decisions for some reason or another.

If I didn't see so many people riding bikes in the middle of the road, all lights and reflectors removed, in dark clothing, I might be more inclined to follow your line of reasoning. As is I'm pretty sure some people either want to be hit or just don't think about consequences at all.

I've also seen this, dark clothing, dark bike and not a damn reflector or light on the thing, at least they stay on the side of the roads where I am.

Well, what an appropriate conversation because I almost ran someone over for this reason an hour ago.

Local village has a road and on one side of said road is space to park, and beyond that a path. Basically it goes road->parking spaces->path

For some reason this absolute smoothbrain in almost full black decided that rather than walk on the path, they'd walk on the road behind the parked cars. It's cloudy so there's no moonlight, there's not a lot of street lighting there, and nobody has their full beams on because they don't want to blind other drivers. Lucky me there was no oncoming traffic.

FUCK do I just yearn for the days where cars are a thing of the past, and well-designed walkable cities are a reality so vehicular manslaughter isn't a thing you need to be paranoid about ALL THE TIME.
