Are you Vegan smeep?

I dont get why everybody loves Earl Grey. If I want essential oils, I'll just go eat a scented candle. Pure black tea FTW, maybe with lemon or a bit of sugar.

Don't try to eat ordinary candles btw. I did once, while drunk (obviously) - it was made of stearin and did not taste very nice. Beeswax candles would be tasty however, I think.

Oh god, I can't stop laughing. XD

Hmm... Can humans digest stearin properly?

I think people love Early Grey because it's the stereotypical blue blood stuff. I think it's pretty nice. Then again, I like all tea.
Well, I was drunk, and remembered a comic from my childhood (Um-Pa-Pah I think it was called) where an Indian (the titular hero) comes into an English fort and instead of eating the stuff from the banquet just starts munching on the candles.* Cue drunk me thinking that would be a good thing to try... I think I at least ate the whole thing. No stopping after one bite, no sir; gotta man up and finish what you started.

*Thinking back, it used a whole lot of cliches and might be considered racist; then again the hero was an Indian warrior who had to save time and again an English upperclass twit who kept getting himself into trouble...

E: I think I meant paraffin.

Well, the stuff about candles seems racist but then again, nowadays almost everything seems racist. God, drunk you sure is an idiot though. xD
If I were one of your friends I would have just been rolling on the floor laughing as you tried to eat the candle. I'm laughing just imagining it.

I have no idea what either of those things are regardless. I was just wondering if you managed to digest it or ended up having a few... Problems, later on.

Yes, I am vegan.

I think everything from those days seems racist because everything back then totally was racist. I imagine white people in the old days having big racist parties where they just racisted it up and then went off to lynch somebody while singing "camp town races," then they would watch Song of the South and Dumbo with their children.

Naah, I was fine. Washed it down with a couple more beers to get all the little particles out of my mouth*, and continued to have fun.

*Seriously, candles have the weirdest mouthfeel.

I don't think I want to find out, personally. ;D

Eh, well, being racist makes sense, anyway. Not nowadays, but back then? At least, earlier on, that is. They'd be like an entirely different species. (To the people of the time.)
Also, I don't think it was that bad. I also certainly don't think it was only white people. >_>
They were more concerned with witches anyway.

Ah, Jacobean times were the fun times.

He thought that, not only did witches exist, but they were all out to get him specifically.

Now I'm thinking about English nobles with funny wigs doing 90's gangsta rap, but substituting 'witches' for 'bitches' D:

Not my problem if you don't like visualising the historical facts.

James himself was heard to say to his Privy Council "Dem witches be cray-z"

I guess the old days is relative, I was thinking more 1930-50s less umm, whenever the time you guys are talking about. I assume the wheel was invented at that point. That's all my public education covered anyway, wheel invention and 1900s white people culture.

I'm pretty sure the wheel was invented loooooooooooooooooong before that. Though I feel like you might be making a joke about the 'Murican education system. >_>

My history education mostly covered England and what the English did when they came to NZ. Namely, gave muskets and STDs to the locals in exchange for sweet potatoes and getting shot by the locals.

Hmmm, you probably have, it's not that uncommon (although decent one is). Called "red tea" in most supermarket brandings. It's basically fermented (green? I think) tea. The taste is mellower than black teas, and has a certain... hmmm... "humid" undertone (I've made a quick googling around the web and people refer to it as an "earthy flavor" I dont dislike the label)., for lack of a better word. I like it a lot.

In America, at least, "Red Tea" usually refers to Rooibos, not something made by doing anything at all to regular tea.

Yeah, I love rooibos too. And now that you mention it, one person from my workplace thought I was referring to rooibos when I was talking about pu erh.

In our supermarkets at least pu-erh is usually labelled as red tea. Rooibos as rooibos, or "rooibos tea". (until recently, btw, it was hard to find pure, unflavored rooibos, let alone loose rooibos bags. This made me very sad)

(posts removed) Is it possible to talk about tea without talking about murdering people?  We will try part 2 of the experiment below.
