I could trap them right now with the flip of a switch right now. It's so tempting, but i don't think I can handle seiges yet.

No, but my trade depot in in a aclove and I could flip the switch and trap them all in there.

Check to see if they have any bears or eagles for sale. If not, THEN slaughter/trap/whatever them.

elf sieges are nothing to be too afraid of, even though I've never gotten one.  They don't seem to mind their traders getting killed now and then.

Now remember, you gotta mod black bears before they are trainable as war black bears, but it is worth it. Having Bearmageddon on a lever as your last resort weapon of defence is something no fortress should be without. (be sure the lever is where tantrumers/curious monkeys can't get it)

I have yet to test my Bearmaggeddon as my fortress has yet to have its military fail to prevail, but I am sure I shall get to unleash it in due time.


also, as for the lack of breeding pair, it DID take me 3 caravans to get mine, but it was fully worth it. I now have something like 30 war black bears. not counting all thecubs. Sadly, they have yet to bring a mate for my grizzly bear.
