Looks cool, though reading the website I saw something about a storyline so I hope you can ignore it or at least have a non-story mode.
Yeah, like I said, it might be similar to Alien Legacy, which has a storyline(decent one, too), but mostly has you (micro)managing your colonies.

Thanks, it means a lot to me that people (especially other artists) react
so well to the style. I developed the hand-drawn style because I wanted
it to stand out from the big titles with their 3D graphics, and also
give it a bit of nostalgic feel by adopting the loose and detailed look
from the european sci-fi comic books that I grew up with.
I´m really happy the programmer found a way to blend these 2D drawings
with the 3D lights and shadows (check out the video to see what I mean.)
That said, I would love to find time to give the UI an overhaul because
it still lacks some detail. It looks a bit too retro and needs some
sci-fi doodads, and should also give the impression of being comprised
by different brand products and modified electronics......and I want
some sort of space insect/lizard to be perched next to the screen........

But I´m sure you know the feeling of never being completely done with an
art piece!

Thanks for your support and have a merry Christmas.

Ha! I couldn't put a finger on it before, but that's probably what I find the most compelling about this game.

Looks interesting. Hopefully they'll get a prototype done sometime soon.

What I find most compelling is this has the vibe going that the developers are pouring their heart and soul into it, and are enjoying it. That's what I like to see in a game.

I just finished posting a big encouragement for randomly generated maps, as one of the developers' responses earlier today seems to indicate they will be opting for a set of pregenerated worlds and I think that's a silly idea for any sim game.

I explain why here.

Nice post and idea Moogie, I thought about the same thing. Was going to wait a while before asking them though, but I think this is the right time :)

Edit: Oh and..wow. When I looked at their forums, there was only the 2 devs registered and 1 topic.
Muahaha that's nice :D

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

I figure it's best to suggest it as early as possible. It has to be implemented early, otherwise they'd have a completely different system set up for their 'normal' maps and it would end up being twice as much work.

Then again, them seem to already have at least 1 map finished, so it might already be too late.

I think it would be best to have both options, like Tropico.

Yep, I hope they implement it.
I can't help but think if I'll get experiences like I had yesterday with outpost 2... 3 hours building my first colony (in 'colony builder' mission or whatever), and getting the hang of the game, when a sudden HUEG invasion of redpainted tanks appeared and I got pwned.

I didn't expect to be attacked because it looked like a freeform-map or something  :-[
Now I know why people say that game is unforgiving  :'(
