How did you learn about DF?
« on: January 06, 2011, 08:58:06 pm »

I'm curious.  Also, I'd'a made a poll, but I couldn't think of many good options, keh heh.

As for me, I read stuff on Wired.com and saw a mention of the upcoming release of DF2010 in some article (as well as a mention of Dungeon Crawl) and decided to check it out.  SO glad I did.  Probably one of the best games I've ever played.

I was part of DF, in the year 2043, when DF gained sentient thought, and decided to send some dwarfs back in time to encorage donations to it's dietys, Toady One the Great, Threetoe the Natural and Scamps the cat.

Playing a cheesemaker in an average Fortress 'round here would be. Freaking. Terrifying.

Penny Arcade linked to TinyPirate's tutorial, and I enjoyed reading it so much I had to try the game.

I just stumbled across it. Really.

That was prehaps the single most epic event in my life so far.

Forgotten Beasts seem to be akin to Toady playing Russian Roulette with your fortress, as they can be anything from harmless giant worms made of mud to necrotic-gas spewing nigh-invunerable iron hydras of doom.

Some guy introduced DF to me. At first I was laughing at him and mocking him for even bothering to play this hideous alphabet-soup game. He gave up trying to convince me, and months if not YEARS later I decided to give dorfiness a chance. And as you might guess, I had quite a bit of both types of fun.

Nerfnow the webcomic, I had heard of it before but it's two pages on DF made me finally look it up.
