I put at least 40 hours of work into this, so far. This is only a 12x12 pixel font. Once I get a monitor that can got above 1024x768, I will make a 16x16 font, as well!

Set your game window to 960x300.

Well, if I had a bigggggggggggger monitor... Then *I* would have incentive. As it stands now, I don't, so I won't. And don't ask me to, cause I will say I will, but never really do it cause I am lazy, then I won't ever post on here cause I am avoiding the people that asked me to do it...

So, until I have a bigger monitor, that is what I am sharing.   :D

might i suggest streaching it 133% along both axis, and then you will have a 16x16 tileset?  it may look a little softer if you have it at a high color depth when you streach it, or a little grainer if you have it at a low color depth when you streach it.

I really like this tile set, quite possibly the best yet.  Maybe I'll use it in conjunction with the graphical tiles.

one observation though, and that is that the blank stone with its shadowed edge stands out very distinctly from any of the textured stone with symbols on it.  I realize there is no way to fix this without giving up the nice 3-d shadowing on the walls.

one criticism, also.  it would be nice if the lettering -- and basically everything other than wall, rock, and ore -- had an inverted shadow on it.  this would make it seem engraved or recessed.  it might be a small difference at 12x12, but its pretty significant at 16x16.

i dont know how that would play out for actual objects rather than engravings, so maybe its a bad idea.

and ultimatly, its not so bad having convex engravings.  it just makes them more like a bas-relief.

DO NOT STRETCH IT

You will *RUIN* the font by doing that.

I am working on a 16x16 now (i started out of curiosity).

SO DO NOT RUIN IT, PLEASE. I WILL MAKE IT 16x16 SO YOU GUYS DON'T RUIN IT.

Sorry, but I am graphic artist of rl and some things you guys do to the graphics make me want to tear my eyes out!

---

Response to above: =D

The blank stone having the 3d look can be removed or made more subtled. It is nice though, because the areas designated for mining use the same tile, so you can count tiles before they are mined, quite easily.

I had an inverted shadow on it before, for just that reason. Perhaps at 16x16 I can make it more distinct, but at 12x12 it looked like it had conflicting light sources, not an engraving. Not enough room for the detail.

Anyway, like I said before, it is a work in progress. That is really just a snapshot of what I am using. It hasn't changed since I posted it, yet.

So a 16x16 will be coming...   :D

LOL

That's the best analogy. =D

And I am working on a graphics pack, as well. Here is a sample, my 16x16 elephant:

Yes, he has red eyes, red with rage for dwarf blood!

EDIT: Ok, you piss me off. I am working on this 16x16 font, and the few more pixels give me much more ability to create this the way I want. =/ Now I NEED to go find another monitor. DAMN YOU.

Wow, your graphics also look cool.
Anxiously awaiting both 16x16 font and graphics   :)
(  Hope I didn't scare you away from posting on these forums again  :O  )

LOL, no, I am an artist (sorta kinda, geek first, artist second), so the best art is art for something you really like. This fits =D

And it's motivation for a larger monitor.

I am working on this all day instead of playing. I hope you are all happy. =p I will want screenshots!

Ok, here's a 16x16 one, i kinda tested it, but the window itself clips to 1024, so that's it for now. I will work on it more for sure once I have a better monitor, and probably even beforehand =p

Try this for now:

Fortress of Mennets(made by men, for men, of men)

using your 16x16 tileset

seems to clash a little with the graphics im using unfortunately, but thats due to the graphics having no depth when the tileset does, so not an issue with tileset at all

Well, having tested the 16x16 a bit, it find it REALLY needs tweaking. I would consider that a gamma (not even a beta) and not recommend it. Lemme fix 'er up a bit more (am working on it now) and I will post that for ya'll.

Edit:
Btw, nice for layout. I would STRONGLY recommend building a limestone only stockpile (in your tree/food farm area) to stash all that limestone you are collecting on the shore. Don't want it to wash away!

Doesn't matter anyway since for some reason I can't get it to work without lots of magenta smearing the screen.

This is a very slick tileset.  It's nice having each tile be as wide as it is high.  Like you, my monitor can't top 1024, so I can't comment on your 16x16, but the smaller one is delicious.
