Nadaka, What great powers would be pitted against each other and for what interests?  Technology is also really different.
I really wish one of the western nations would just man up and send a 'dirty job' team to clean this crap up.
Well i meant only kafadaffi, and you know, since it would be done in secret it would just end up with a dead tyrant and a demoralized military
You do realize that sending an assassin or group of assassins would qualify as state sponsored terrorism, do you?

Not everything is easily solved just by applying violence.  And, as we have proved time and time again, it's difficult to focus violence to a particular key point.  I think we've all watched too many movies and played to many videogames where the solution is:  Just kill it.

EDIT: Unforgivable spelling mistakes....

I'm not entirely sure how assassination of a high profile political figure to remove them from power could be considered terrorism, honestly. It's got nothing to do with fear or intimidation or threats or anything terrorism related. It has to do with eliminating an enemy threat.

It's most definitely an act of war, of course, and assassinating leaders of nations is both difficult and frowned upon as a general rule by those who could be considered leaders of nations, but that doesn't justify calling it terrorism.

Ok, make that Iran eliminating Obama as a threat to world peace.  Specially for Afghanistan and Iraq (or even themselves).

I know it's hard to think from a different mindset when you feel one of those acts is justified or at least, agree with the end result but it's about the same thing.

Qaddafi's violent crackdown on some of it's citizens makes it entirely different? What about Myanmar, Russia in Chechnya and now some other Arab Countries?

For something to be an act of war, shouldn't war be declared?

I'm not saying Black or White but I'm just trying to debate the issue here from different perspectives and see what people think.

Assassination is not terrorism. Terrorism is targeted at the people, to make them lean on the government to stop something. Assassination is more direct than that.

Assassination is a tool that can be used for terrorism.

God, why am I posting here.  I will have to look at updates in my thread list whenever I check it, along with the horrible Happy Thread.

This has been, in the past, a worthwhile thread. At least I thought so.
I have nowhere near as many regrets about posting in this one, as I did about the late "Atheist" thread. *shudder*
My condolences on the "happy" thread.

I really, really do wish I could unsubscribe from my "new replies to your posts" list.

Still like this thread though.

A friend on Facebook said that Benghazi is being bombed, but I don't have a source on it.  Anyone else have more information?

Seems so, although all reporting from the ground is a mess at the moment. At least looks like the pilot managed to eject.

Looks it. Hope the chute works, that's far too close to the ground for comfort.
