The game's name is Dwarvesh as if the gameplay isnt enough to suggest its inspired by Dwarf Fortress

do you guys think that df is gonna have some competition?

First instinct says no.
It seems to have graphics, and that means a much slower dev cycle. It can't compeat with DF for content. It also makes life either harder, or straight out inpossible for modders, and the abilty to rapidly mod the raws is a key feature of DF.

Now let's watch the rest of the video.

Second instict says no.
Although it is some what of a clone, like you said. It does use a lot of terms that DF uses, and game play looks familiar. Seeing those dwarves dig out those rooms was like watching the imps in dungeon keeper. Still, graphics dilute depth. In th comments somebody asked about a 3D engine, and the maker said it was in the cards.

Development has just started, maybe in time it could be as complex and wonderful as DF but i kinda dont like how his dwarves move at blinding speed...

What I like though is the mouse support....

Wow, this is the first time I've seen a dwarf fortress clone thread actually have a dwarf fortress clone in it.  The terminology is even the same.  I'm curious to see how it turns out.

Wasn't there a spoof Dwarf Fortress clone a while ago that turned to be fake?

Wow, that looks like Dwarf Fortress plus a good UI.

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"

SSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Also I suppose it will be far less good than DF due to the fact DF started first. A long time ago.

Nonetheless I like that UI. Carving things like statues right out of the rock instead of in a shop is a nice touch, too.

Why do I get the idea that this is a fake clone created just to troll us?

Because your always paranoid that everybody and everything is out to get you. I suggest medication.

Oh, and you may very well be right.

Because it already happened once. I think it was called "Dwarf Castle"

Yah you're right, in fact I see DwarvesH dev has an account here. Hello!

http://dwarvesh.blogspot.com/2010/09/dwarvesh-development-has-started.html this post he mentions DF as inspiration and how he plans to later deviate and make it more unique. I'm all for it really if he makes a cool game. It already looks far more interesting and complete than say Goblin Camp
