I actually know people who can "overstretch" like that, but it doesn't really look like that to me. It's dark, but I think it's the shoulder and a straight arm that I see.

haha it was intended to be behind and above him, but what can I say, it's no artwork :P

His head is turned to his right, too. Would be noticeable if I'd hinted at a right shoulder.

His arm is bent inward. Either his left arm is broken so that it bends the wrong way or it's actually his right arm and he manages to turn it almost 180 degrees around his body.

Arm is ok.
It's not bent it wrong way, it's actually bent a bit in elbow. It's strong muscular dwarf arm, but the torch lights his biceps only, and his triceps just merges into darkness

The thumb is on the correct side... Arm is still bent funnily but I'm going with this explanation for now.
