For some reason DF linux keeps complaining about GTK libraries not being installed, when they most certainly are.
Is your Linux 64bit?
If it is you need the 32bit version of the GTK libraries it wants not the 64bit ones.

It is 64bit debian squeeze.  I will look to see if I can get the i386 gtk2.0 libs when I go home.

For now, my "not really an entry, since I have to judge" just for fun image so I don't feel left out...

Hah, awesome.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

On squeeze your only option is "ia32-libs-gtk".
It may not have all the theme engines you need but it should work without those, you will just get warning messages about any that are missing.

I use the default gtk2 debian theme. Nothing superfantastic.  Can the 32bit libs and the 64bit libs coexist?

Yes that is what the ia32-* packages are for.
They install the 32bit libs in a separate area, "/usr/lib32", so they don't interfere with the 64bit versions.
You may need to add
Code: [Select]
export GTK_PATH="/usr/lib32/gtk-2.0"to your launch script (df or dfhack) in squeeze to make it use the 32bit libs though.

What's the current deadline? I want to enter but I'd like to know if there's a rough date that it should be done by.
