Welcome to Kingmaker Mafia, a twist on the normal concept of One Man, One Vote- there is one king, and he has the vote! In this game, a single townsperson is selected as the Kingmaker, who then selects someone to be King for a day. Only the king has a vote, and it is decisive- once it is cast, that person is executed. The king will be announced at the start of each day. The king may or may not be on the side of the town!
General rules:
1. The execution must be in red, and in this format:
Execute Playername. There is no unvoting- once cast, it is final. If you are not the king, do not post in red- I will not be amused.
2. The day will last until an execution is decided, while Nights are at least 24 hours. The night time span does not includes weekend, though I may end weekend-spanning nights after 24 hours if all night actions are in. Nights will typically end at 11 PM EST, though read the post that states it!
3. Never edit your posts for any reason, including typos.
4. Do not PM other players. Players with private chat access will be given a topic on QuickTopic where they may post freely.
5. Never quote any PM from the mod. You may give a general summary (for example, a roleclaim), but do not quote directly.
6. Please put my name in
bold if you would like to get my attention.
7. A deadline will only be enforced if I deem that the game is stalled. I will give a minimum of 36 hours notice if I enforce a deadline. If there is no decision by the deadline, the king will be executed!
8. Dead players may post one “bah post” to comment on their death, but it may not contain any relevant game information. After that, dead men tell no tales, so please do not post.
9. Please make an effort to post at least once daily. If you do not post for 36 hours, you will be prodded. If I don’t hear from you within 24 more hours, you will be replaced. If you think someone needs a prod, please bring it to my attention- I can’t guarantee I will notice everyone who is not posting.
10. Never underestimate your importance, and always play to win!
Game specific rules:
Townie
You are a simple village peasant. You, along with the other peasants, are here to assist the King in finding who the evil ones plotting against the kingdom are. You have no vote and no powers, but your persuasion and intense cross-examination skills are needed to guide the King in the correct direction!
You are eligible to become the Kingmaker.
You win when all the villains are dead.
Kingmaker
You are the one responsible for selecting the next king! Choose wisely, because if you select a villain, they will be in a powerful position to influence the town!
At the start (Night 0), please send your selection for the King for the next day. All other nights, please send a backup choice as well- the backup will be used if your primary choice is murdered in the night.
Should you die, a new Kingmaker will be selected from those eligible.
You win when all the villains are dead.
Hero
You are a powerful hero of the realm, with many exploits to serve the locals. If you are selected by the king to be executed, the farmers whose livelihoods you have saved will rise up and kill the king in revenge for your death!
You are NOT eligible to become Kingmaker.
You win when all the villains are dead.
Merchant
You are a wealthy merchant in the town. However, due to your self-interested nature, you are not trusted by those who select the Kingmaker, and are therefore ineligible. You have no powers, otherwise.
You are NOT eligible to become Kingmaker.
You win when all the villains are dead.
Doctor
You are a healer. Each night, you can visit one person. You will prevent that person from being killed in the night. You are so good at what you do, they won’t even know that they have been attacked!
You ARE eligible to become Kingmaker, and will retain your doctoral abilities should this happen!
You win when all the villains are dead.
Villain
You, with your partner SCUMBUDDY_NAME, are plotting to take over this kingdom! To do this, you are attempting to influence the selected King into executing the wrong person. If you are lucky, you will be selected as king by the Kingmaker.
You are NOT eligible to become Kingmaker. You may discuss your plot with your partner at SCUMCHAT_LINK.
You win when it is impossible for the villagers to win.
I may change the role PMs to add flavor, but they will generally be the same. If I need to make changes, I will announce doing so, and once the game starts, there will be no further changes.
The game will start on Night 0 with the thread locked. Only the Kingmaker may act Night 0, though the villains may start talking in their scum chat.
This will be a nine player game with two villains. This game is Mountainous- no other roles besides the Kingmaker!
One final note: I suggest that you do not play this as your first game, due to the different voting mechanic. Other than that, anyone is welcome.
