Absolutely incredible. This is the coolest thing I've ever seen done in Google Sketchup. I'm posting here and looking forward to seeing what sort of things will be done to this.

One thing of note: are you able to change the water textures for somewhat prettier water?

Duplicated the royal complex and modified it. while far from finished, it is already starting to look like a place i would like to visit.

by the way, not visible in the pictures are the 2 "hidden" baths next to the palace (where the stairs go down) for the royal ladies.

If you don't release this when you're finished I will be very frustrated. I'd love to make this into a L4D2 map, if only to showcase it, with the sketchup-to-L4D2 SDK tools available.

Brilliant.

Yes, I'll release the model when i am done with it. can l4d2 simulate a sort of human pupolation, as in, just few people walking around aimlessly? i think that could add atmosphere.

Very cool.

It'd be neat to see someone do that in DF or minecraft.

Well, I believe there would be at least zombies walking around aimlessly.

That would actually make a cool L4D2 map.

Polished the complex a little bit (far from done) and started with the palace itself. greatly inspired for it by petra, the carved palace of jordan.

Maybe the blue archways should be completely blue all around to be reminiscent of the Ishtar Gate?

Other than that, your work is great, especially the effect of the right-angle geometry and terraces. I love architecture that stimulates my brain at the same time.

The architecture is sound, but it still gives me that Escherish feeling with all the waterfalls and stairs.

Heh, your friend was wrong, two years ago.

This is a project I started on Sketchup when it first came out. It's 3d D&D map made as an homage to Castlevania. (No it didn't end up working out.)

The transparent pics were meant to be an interior map.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Your's is way prettier though.
