this week on the epic store, the freebies are :
Outer World "Spacer Choice" that was previously given away a few months ago
Thief, the 4th game in the excellent Thief serie, though the 4 annoyed the previous 3 games fans because it distanced itself from the past in lore, atmosphere and characters a bit too much. Still a good game but not the best Thief game.

this week on epic store, the freebies are :
- Industria, a fps setup in Berlin&odd dimension near the end of the cold war
- LISA definitive edition, a bundle of 2 games : LISA the Painful and its sequel LISA the Joyful, some 2D side scroller RPG

LISA has a -lot- of very positive review pointing that you should avoid internet spoilers , but note that reviews mention that the game story is reported as having very though, very horrific dark and mature tone, "a tale of desesperation, sadness and redemption"

The original Marathon is now on Steam.  It's free.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2398450/Classic_Marathon/

Marathon 2 and Infinite are also scheduled for a Steam release, most likely for free as well.

Thanks for the heads up! Played Marathon back in the day. Went to check what year, mid-90ies, and found that bungie has some new marathon title in the works.

the epic store has a few weeks of "mystery games" as their weekly freebie.
This week the freebie is "Dragon Age: Inquisition GOTY" that includes all its dlc
unfortunately requires EA's origin

Is origin third party equally as horrible as getting it straight from belzebub themselves? I had a little excursion there recently when I dug out battlefield 5, and it is so bad it is beyond satire. The current "EA app" requires about 5 exceptions in the firewall, try to delete them and they will duplicate, it will refuse to launch if the "ea background service" wasn't part of the startup, because you can not simply launch it yourself. And all of that intrusiveness so that their servers are riddled with cheaters.

It's beyond embarrassing it's a dishonor, the people responsible should have their bloodline cursed by poverty and sickness for 12 generations at least.

Just noticed this, but an idle reminder the trilogy's been freeware for a long while, was released as such around a decade ago. A project to get them running well on modern machines is aleph one, if you want them, y'know, without the steam DRM cruft, heh.

That's true.  But the Steam version has achievements and the cloud save feature if that's important.  I'm seeing mixed answers as to whether it runs on Steam Deck.

Talisman Digital Edition is now F2P. Its change to free coincides with Skulls, but Nomad had announced last week that it was just gonna be flat-out free going forward. Which makes sense since the playerbase is shrinking, there's a ton of expansions that'll still cost money, and they're preparing to shift their focus to releasing Talisman 5e Digital.

FWIW, it's a really faithful adaptation of the game, and the AI isn't terrible. And if you wanna play MP, you can use whatever expansions the host has even if you don't have them.

Also given away on Steam, if you dislike Epic for some reason.

I was expecting gog to do the same as the other stores regarding Gladius , but instead they decided to give away a few wallpapers and some discount on some games that are regularly having a discount.

Looks like gog noticed Gladius is given away in every stores, and so it is now available to claim for free on gog too :)
Sure it follows the Paradox DLC galore trend, but frankly it's a very good game if you like that TBS mix between Civ and Panzer General.
And even without any DLC there's a lot of content and gameplay in this with a competent AI.
