Free Game List
Kaleb702 Games:
Awesomest J-RPG plot makers ever need publicity.
Quintessence: The Blighted Venom
http://freebirdgames.com/games/quintessence/
RPG - drama - exposition dump
MP: no
Linear RPG with 95% of the game being exposition and plot. The other 5% is plot relevant (real time) combat and puzzles.
Comment: If you get into it, the fact that 95% of the game is exposition won't even bother you.
The Mirror Lied
http://freebirdgames.com/games/the-mirror-lied/
RPG - NOT A HORROR GAME - mystery
MP: no
Mysterious RPG, 5 minutes or so. Explore to figure out what the heck the entire plot is. Every small object is interactable.
Comment: A birdie flew across the roof yesterday. He said he’ll fly over again today.
Do You Remember My Lullaby
http://freebirdgames.com/games/lullaby/
RPG - music video - sit and watch
MP: no
9 minute 'music video' style RPG. Hidden game with a reference to Quintessence if you beat the game and open all the save games into notepad. Spoiler (click to show/hide)If you can't figure it out, change the file referred to when you combine the text of all save games (the ones that are names) to 'Vikon'.
Comment: I can't believe I've been dreaming of that crap for months.
snauts:
I have made few free games:
Point and click adventure game in post soviet environment:
http://piepe.lv/game-lv/
Platform game with emphasis on exploration:
http://piepe.lv/lariad/
Lariad is free for windows and linux, but not for mac. Although game is open source and gutsy mac user can build it for free. I hope it qualifies for this thread.
Neonivek:
Dang it everyone is making point and click adventure games except me!
bitesh:
L'Abbaye des Morts
An interesting little platformer for all you Spectrum nostalgics out there.
8-bit killer
An NES-style FPS. Very neat. Great soundtrack.
Actually, check the whole site, I'm pretty positive he works on donations.
EDIT: I checked the list, and Hydorah is in there. Same developer. So, yeah...

And also:
Engage to Jabberwock: You're a mage in a maze. There's much more to it than that, but check it out. It's hell-a-hard.
Bunny Must Die: Also very hard. You're a bunny chick who suddenly develops cat ears after an explosion. You gotta work that out. Here's the english patch
Both by doujin company Platine Dispositif.
Grief Syndrom: A platformer based on Mahou Shoujou Madoka Magica, by Tasogare Frontier, the same guys who made the Touhou fighting games (7.5, 10.5 and 12.3)... which reminds me...
MegaMari: A Megaman clone starring Marisa Kirisame and Alice Margatroid, from Touhou fame.
Super Marisa Land: a Super Mario clone, starring the same Marisa Kirisame.
New Super Marisa Land (Marisa and 6 Mushrooms): a sequel to the one above.
Super Marisa World: another Super Mario clone starring Marisa, but this time more in the style of Super Mario World, for the SNES, as the name implies.
And last but not least, Maristice: A Solstice clone, starring (you've guessed it) Marisa Kirisame, in which you must retrieve the severed pieces of your broom. If you don't know Solstice, you missed out on one of the greatest NES games ever, and one of the greatest mazes ever made in the History of video-game consoles.
These last 5 links direct you to the touhou wiki, because it's more convenient that way, since from there you're linked to the official sites, and an english patch download, should you need it. All these games are hard as a mo-fo, except Maristice, which is more casual, but will still leave you clueless at times.
Enjoy :)
