Clout and The Lobby

https://cloutserver.net

I recently moved the game off of kongregate completely after realizing most of the "players" they seemed to be generating were bots and/or shills that cluttered up the bill list and did nothing in terms of actual gameplay.  They were also paying people to report nonexistent bugs in the comments and shit up my forums.

You log in with a keyfile.  Don't rename the keyfile.  Keyfiles are much more secure than entering your password as even a keylogger on your system, a remote site, or one loaded into your browser won't reveal your password.  Additionally: your password can't be brute-forced because the system locks out IP addresses for 7 days on a single login failure.  Since you're using a keyfile, a legitimate login will never be inaccurate.

As for what the games actually are: Clout is a Congressional simulator where you play as one Congressperson in the US Federal Congress.  There aren't really NPCs per se, but The Lobby contains NPCs that can be activated using "favors" in order to take action in Clout.

The Lobby is a MUD-like browser game where you play as a Lobbyist trying to retain sanity while going about your job.  The Lobby's story mode isn't finished at all yet, but it has a tutorial with a few missions so you can see what the single-player gameplay is like.  The Lobby is cross-integrated with Clout in a way that is completely unprecedented in video games.  The only other games I know of that interconnect in a similar way are EVE and Dust 514... but the way they interconnect is trivial compared to how Clout and The Lobby interact.  For all intents and purposes, Clout and The Lobby are the same game played through two different interfaces.  It's kind of hard to describe except to say that it's designed to be much like how actual Congresspersons and lobbyists interact in real life.  Supposedly.  As far as we know.

If you'd like to see a description of the endgame mechanics that involve PvP interaction in The Lobby as well as cross-game interaction (which are not currently described in the content for The Lobby), follow this link:

Edit: it's also worth noting that Clout is available on Facebook at https://apps.facebook.com/cloutthegame

The Lobby is not available on Facebook, and may never be.  I wouldn't even recommend playing either game on Facebook, since the keyfile used on cloutserver.net is far more secure than your Facebook login with a password could ever possibly be.

Micropurchases work properly on Facebook, and will be back in operation on cloutserver.net as soon as I find a suitable credit card processor.  Micropurchases were in operation on kongregate, but obviously that doesn't work when I'm not going through their API.
