What's this...? Ooh, it appears to be a MoO-esque 4x. Code used.

Not quite MMO. Its a space 4x game. But it has more of a board game feel to it. And it has well regarded AI and more varied victory conditions then most Space 4x game. And it ship building values looks over mechanics.

Blizzard is one of the big game devs I still respect, good on them, giving away a classic.

I'd honestly rather they started with Diablo (gimme a remaster of that, and I'm never installing anything else ^^), but I guess it comes down to personal preference.
And indeed, giving away a classic like Starcraft is a pretty respectable move on their part.

For those that are mostly interested in single player skirmish vs the AI in Starcraft and so will reach a point in which the AI isn't challenging anymore, but you're still not interested in multiplayer, i remember several years ago after looking if there were people doing custom AI like in good old Age of Empires, finding that indeed there were some developers making new AI and that did the trick nicely , like some of those proposed in the Broodwar AI project :

I had recently learned that more coders even came in and it generated yearly tournaments between custom AI :
