Goblin Torture.
« on: February 19, 2011, 07:18:02 pm »

Im looking to somehow turn a goblin limbless, then dump them into a pit and force them to live there, and eventually use it to dump a mega beast into.

Any ideas how to acomplish this without killing them?

Also, Goblin Torture/fun General.

Limbless is hard, but dropping them down enough z-levels will injure them pretty badly.  And if you drop them onto a spike trap that you control manually, you can pull the lever until they're injured just enough.  But be careful, because you never know when the spikes will get a lucky hit to the brain.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Perhaps not "limbless" per se, but paralyzed should be possible.  Use a syndrome that causes 100 severity numbness of the arms and legs, which will cause nerve damage after a while, rendering the limbs non-functional.  Or perhaps that's just sensory nerves.  Long-term, high-severity paralysis should cause motor nerve damage, yes?

Aside from that, hammers.  They break bones easy, but rarely actually kill.  Unskilled hammer practice slamming apart gobbo legs should be messy.

I'm not sure about specifically de-limbing them, but here's an idea...

]=Wall
X= Floodgate
d=Wardog
+=Floor

Code: [Select]
]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]
]+++++++++++]]]
]+++++++++++Xd]
]+++++++++++]]]
]+++++++++++Xd]
X+++++++++++]]]

The floodgate on the West wall being the exit to the pit of megbeasts.

In game the room should be much longer to accomodate more dogs. When you feel he is adequately crippled, open the West floodgate (which should be closer to your base than the dog room. You should test this first, as it may not work.

Yes, but can I REMOVE the limbs? I want a dark cave with a bunch of wriggling goblins. I mean really, whats more fun then that?

Dogs don't stop, they'll kill the goblin.

Also, creatures never seem to be truly immobile, but will somehow drag themselves along by the tongue (or beard, as the case may be).

Exactly what Im aiming for. Whats more evil then forcing a goblin into a dark cave, limbless, forced to wriggle around for the rest of its life?

An equipped Goblin will be a match enough for a wardog. You'll lose some dogs, but they're easily replaceable.

You can disarm a prisoner if there in a cage, you know

Well I made a pit 6 levels deep. put one upside spear at the bottom with bronze spikes on it. When I throw them down, they break almost everything, most parts are being cut open etc. They usually survive this, except if they wear leather armor. In case they survive the fall, they usually puke all around, bleed like hell and survive until they die of thirst I guess.

I am also using this pit to easily get rid of many tame animals, just throw a goblin down and then mass pit the animals. So much puke and blood there...

Why not just have a the room under a retractable bridge? No need for cages then. Much faster, as well.

No, because he said he wants a pit of amputee Goblins in his fortress.

You'd need to chop off one limb a season or they'll die.
Sheer numbers should let it work.

A 20 story fall has a tendency to remove limbs.
