I've always sort of thought this is how dwarfs saw dragons...

Sinfest comic for March 6th:
(The little red fellow has been awakening his inner serpent for the previous few days.)

I think around panel 9 and before is how dwarfs see dragons. They're just messing around, and then Bomf. Dragon.
Of course, DF being DF, the dwarfs usually proceed to get killed in a very splattery manner. ;D

Actually, I could see this happening in DF.
Just with acid rain at the end.
