Tamed forgotten beast citizen? Bug?
« on: February 27, 2011, 08:37:29 pm »

On my first migrant wave I had gotten 3 dwarves and a tamed forgotten beast, I'm fairly sure this is a bug since it came as a citizen and not even a pet. I made it into my militia commander although he it seems reluctant to follow orders. I am playing with a vanilla set of DF raws, I am however using dwarf therapist but I'm sure no positive that couldn't cause this. It is specifically a "towering eyeless theropod with blush lavender feathers that has noxious secretions"

What mods are you using?

I'm not using any mods, this is a completely vanilla installation of DF with the exception of the amazing phoebus tileset.

... I made it into my militia commander...

I'll bet you DID. That would have been my first thought, too... a big drooling slobbery thing, drilling my new recruits.

I didn't modify any sort of files to give it a job either, it came as a migrant. Also who wouldn't want a sentient theropod commander to lead your dwarfs into battle?

It has "noxious secretions", right? What does that cause?

Well I can't tell, I've seen a few of my farmers walk by him no problem. I assume he uses the secretions like a breath weapon or its a liquid coating on its body that attackers get stuck on them.

I am reclaiming this spot so possibly he was underground all along and now he was teleported to the surface because of the reclamation. In that case he might actually go berserk in a few minutes, stay tuned.

Sweet. Can he wear armor or does it not fit him?

This is truly a great thing. When you say he won't take orders, do you mean he won't take military orders, or he won't do any assigned actions at all?

Also I just realized that TYRANNOSAURUS REX was a Theropod. Awesome.

Sweet. Can he wear armor or does it not fit him?

Also a good question.

He won't follow my orders at all but he is friendly, I would assume he can't wear armor since he is described as "towering".

No, sadly he doesn't even follow simple commands  :(. This is probably because the game considers him an animal as well as a citizen. Hence why
he is "tame". I'll see if I can get him to goto burrows.

I'll see if I can get some larger armor though.

Try getting human armor; human armor is too large for dwarfs, maybe it'll fit him?

The towering eyeless T Rex with noxious secretions has a great feel for social interactions (despite his character description describing him as very antisocial...). And he is also apparently a good musician.

Does he follow military commands? ('Train' and 'Station'?)

On the armor part, I have seen in the testing arena and heard that occasionally in the game dragons will be wearing armor ('large metal breastplate')

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.
