I have this world, where I found embark like: shallow metal / deep metals = No iron ore, no Lignite / Bituminous coal, 628630 units of native gold according to dfprospector... and I think it's got something to do with the way the minerals are distributed in the new version, because it's not just one isolated place, but the whole area is like full of gold and nothing else...

Murder his boat?
I swear, if you don't get THAT reference...

It only counts if done by a former emperor that's also on fire. Good luck with that. :P

Wow , I have the same situation too - gold everywhere but you have 3 times more than I do.

I would say you make all that gold into coins. Hoard them in some cave, and finally find a dragon to guard the treasure. After the Inns are implemented, you can turn it into a tourist attraction. X gold to see a living dragon guarding its treasure, and Y gold to try to kill the dragon. If someone would succeed killing it you would throw him/her to magma let him/her keep the treasure.

Create a tomb for your expedition leader that takes up the entire 3x3 area with a golden army.

Megaprojects don't have to be impractical. Make a big fat beautiful looking tower entirely from gold bars and make every possible metal item in there out of gold. Then let your dwarves live in there and be happy all day.

I'd make my entire fortress's walls and floors out of gold. Having your dwarves live in style.

Make a literal mountain of gold.

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.
Ashes are technically fire-safe.

Dig out all the gold.
When one of your dwarves get a mood, use burrows to planepack all the gold into one artifact.
Post artifact description and value.

A massive, golden cock and balls

I guess it's true what they say about user-created content...

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Now I know how the Golden city in Spelunky was made.

I've had abundances of gold in my fortresses in the past, too. I ultimately revert to the "Build big meaningless shit" stage. An underground city would be pretty cool, like the aforementioned Spelunky. It doesn't need to be inhabited by your dwarves. Just make it look like it was once a fortress unto itself.
