Yes, flies are very very annoying (and so reflect real life...)

Looked this up on search a few days ago actually, but all results were about how far dwarves/goblins/babies/cats can fly under the right circumstances...

All food in containers sounds good, but if you've got barrel issues, or are trying to keep the prepared meals out of containers, then it doesn't work.

Does the distance of the food from the fort entrance make any difference? I've seen flies in the lower caverns sometimes, but they usually aren't my main concerns then...
